Hoover U5753-900 WindTunnel Bagless Vacuum Review

Hoover U5753-900 WindTunnel Bagless Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Freakn' Bagless Hoover Windtunnel:

1.There are two filters that need to be changed every 6-12 months (yah, right...more like every three months) and they cost oh, between $38-$50 depending on where you can find them...Wal-Mart? No, they don't carry this type...Target? If you are really lucky.Sears carries them, for about $49.00 a pop...and that is just one filter...you need 2.
2.You can't empty these puppies in the house because you have to tap (more like beat) the filter on the side of the garbage can and dust goes EVERYWHERE, YUCK!So, what do you do?You take it outside to beat it in the garbage can, then with the smallest gust of wind you are covered, COVERED, I'm talking an abominable brown snowman, with dust and dead spiders and anything else you sucked up thinking it was gone forever.
3.The screen...yes, not only the filter needs to be cleaned after EVERY...and I mean with EVERY use..there is this fancy little screen that you have to pull up and pick the caked on "microdust" off of and what do you use to do that????Well, if you are on the ball (which I rarely am) you remembered your small wire brush...but if you didn't you can't really run back in the house holding this nasty dirty thing flinging yuck all over your house...so, you use your finger nail, yes, desperate times call for desperate measures.
4.It burns through belts...twice a year at least (they either break or stretch) not a huge expense, but a lame and time consuming one.
5.It looses suction, bad, after about 10-15 minutes of vacuuming, and then you have to do the whole filter cleaning all over again.
6.The attachment hose pops out ALL THE TIME.SO, you either learn to vacuum holding the hose down and in...or (more probably) you get it in there really good and pray it doesn't come out and resolute to never touch it again.
7.BOTTOM LINE:I have had this Windtunnel for about 2 years, I was not impressed the first time I used it...furious the first time I had to empty it...but I thought, well, maybe it will grow on me....Um, No.I actually stopped vacuuming, I hated it, I hated the waste of time for practically no reward, I hated the dust everywhere, I hated the expense, don't waste your time, money and sanity.
8.Okay, with all that said, I purchased a sweet little vacuum from Wal-mart a few months ago, and I have been waiting to find something wrong with it to pop up but I has not been disappointing yet.I have gone through 1 bag, (I vacuum almost everyday with 2 toddlers), but the bags are really compact I was surprised how much they hold. The light went off to change the bag and it took a whole, oh, 30 seconds for the whole process, the dirt was gone, in the garbage, just like that. And the suction is amazing.Go get this vacuum, today.Do not waist anymore brain cells on a bagless. !!!GE 12 AMP, 2 motor, home cleaning system!!!It's a canister and sucks like...well, something that sucks really, really great!Lol, I actually love to vacuum, really!Plus, the best part...it is only a little over $100.00 and it has a filter but it comes free with the bags.Cool. Get this vacuume today...now...go!

This is one heavy vacuum and it has a louder than usual noise, a pitch that hurt my ears. However, the amount of dust and lint in the canister was amazing and the "power paw" is great for stairs and furniture and the duster is really a nice feature. The way it cleans itself is so cool.Overall, I'd say this is a great vacuum, but he noise and weight take away a few stars.

Hoover U6436-900 TurboPower Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Hoover U6436-900 TurboPower Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

I recently bought the Hoover Windtunnel U6436-900 (TurboPower 7600) to replace my old Hoover Windtunnel U6445-920 (Mach 6.9) which was "giving up the ghost" after 6 years of flawless service.I could have had the old vacuum fixed for less than half of what the new one cost, but I decided to turn back the clock and invest in a new vacuum.

The new U6436 is almost exactly the same as my old Hoover except that it stores tools on the back of the vacuum and now has room up front for the power attachment.Hoover Windtunnel is definitely as loud as ever too. That's because it's actually doing something. It's amazing how much suction these vacuums have when the bag is empty.By the time the bag is full, I estimate that suction decreases by 25%...which is still more than adequate by the way.

I compared the U6436 side-by-side with the Eureka TheBoss 4870GZ that my inlaws have. The Hoover beats the Eureka pretty solidly in power and ease of push thanks to the self propel feature. It really glides along like it is on iceskates or something...almost effortless.Since the Hoover costs 33% more, this is to be expected. The Eureka is quieter, and that's about it.

The product manual that came with the U6436 indicates that it has a 2 year warranty.I've seen conflicting reports on this on various other sites, but it is definitely 2 years...

A famous consumer magazine ranks this vacuum near the top, and I agree.I have owned Hoover Windtunnel for quite awhile now, and they are reliable and do a great job.The bags are cheap too, usually around $7-$8 for 3 of them.

In short, I highly recommend this vacuum.

Product Description:
Equipped with a powerful 12 amp motor, this self-propelled bagged upright vacuum cleaner delivers exceptional performance and virtually effortless cleaning in both forward and reverse modes. The unit's 15-inch-wide cleaning path helps get the job done quickly, while its patented WindTunnel technology provides a powerful dual air stream for enhanced dirt pickup and removal. In addition, dual edge groomers loosen and remove dust, dirt, and lint that collect along baseboards, and the variable height settings and on/off brush-roll control allow for switching from bare floors to carpets with ease. When the handle returns to its upright, locked position, the brush roll automatically shuts off and the unit directs all its power to tool suction. On-board tools include a crevice tool, an upholstery nozzle, a dusting brush, and two extension wands. Its deluxe stretch hose extends up to 11-feet when using both wands and the crevice tool. Even more, its on-board powered hand tool works great for vacuuming upholstered furniture, carpeted stairs, and hard-to-reach places. The unit also comes with allergen filtration that captures 100-percent of dust mites and 99.98-percent of ragweed and common grass pollens. Other highlights include a textured handle grip, fingertip "on/off" control, a full-width headlight to illuminate dark corners, a non-marking furniture guard, a check-bag indicator, a 31-foot power cord with quick-cord release, and a carrying handle for easy transport. The vacuum cleaner measures 13 by 15 by 43 inches and carries a two-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Well that's what I thought too.I thought my husband was nuts (or just trying to be cheap) when he told me about this vac. I really wanted the Dyson Animal. I have to say... I am very glad I listened to him and checked it out.
I spent the day yesterday shampooing and vacuuming my 1600 SF house.Today I decided I needed to replace my previous vac, because I am sick of taking the screwdriver out and taking it apart to remove the clogs. So I went out shopping and came home with this unit.
I have re-done my whole house and I was shocked at how much this thing picked up.It almost made me blush, because I thought my house was clean!!It proved me wrong!I have 2 chihuahuas and 2 love birds to clean up after (Oh yeah, and a husband!)
I love this vac, and for half the price of the Dyson that I have been wanting FOREVER, I say get this and go get yourself something really nice with the extra money that is left.

Above Ground Vacuum Pool Cleaning Maintenance Kit Review

Above Ground Vacuum Pool Cleaning Maintenance Kit
Average Reviews:

Works ok.A little pricey for what you get, but it does the job. Use a fresh cartridge to get maximum flow, and be sure to let all the air out of the hose before plugging in. The filter (bottom valve to remove airpockets from hose, top to remove air in the filter chamber). The part that fits into the strainer gets stopped up with Six leaves and the little vacuum bag needs to be emptied. I have to move more SLOWY than I would like to get it all. It is worth the time to collect all the leaves before starting. If you can see the stuff on the bottom, there is more of it then there should be! I had to change filters after the first go it was worse then I imagened. the flow through the old dirty filter was almost stopped.
Dont leave the hose in the pool, it will take you under! Definitely a hazard for little ones.

Bosch BSG71360UC Formula Electro Duo HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Bosch BSG71360UC Formula Electro Duo HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We moved to a three-story townhouse, and it quickly became clear that my loud, clumsy old Hoover upright was not going to work out in our new home. I nearly went deaf trying to vacuum the stairs, and trying to keep an upright balanced on the steps was an exercise in futility.

So I was convinced that a canister vac was the way to go. This is the second one I tried and the one I decided to keep.

Suction is very good. I'm sure it could be stronger, but given the light weight and the quiet operation, I'm very happy with its ability to clean. In a tradeoff between outright suction and weight, I'm happy to err in favor of a lighter unit, especially with three stories to clean.

The power brush attachment is great on low-to-medium height pile and works better than I'd expected on hardwood floors. A switch to turn the brushroll on and off is right on the handle, which is a must in my book. Crevice, upholstery, and dusting brush attachments are included and fit nicely onboard. They're useful, if a little small.

On the downside, the other reviewers are spot-on with the complaints about the hose length. It could certainly be longer, and though it has a telescoping wand, it's not enough to reach that far overhead.

In addition, I think it would've been more convenient had they put suction strength and on/off controls on the handle, as is the case with the competing Electrolux Oxygen3 that I tried.

I do wish it were priced lower, but after spending many weekends trying out the available alternatives at brick-and-mortar stores, I just couldn't find anything that had the Bosch's virtues with a comparable price. If your priority is having a quiet, compact, and lightweight vacuum with excellent suction and all the essential cleaning tools, it's probably worth the premium.

Oreck OR100 Premier Series Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner Review

Oreck OR100 Premier Series Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received this vacuum cleaner today. Mine is actually the SOR100, same cleaner only mine has an aluminum brush roll and the housing is chrome not black. My first impression of this when I took it out of the box was the quality of the unit. Steel housing, aluminum brush roll, easy assembly, just an over all solid feel. And it easy to remove the brush roll and fan to clean.

Since there isn't a great description for this vacuum cleaner I will give some of the details.

It is the commercial series of the Oreck vacuums. It has a reusable bag and a 50 foot long power cord (this model may be only 35). The wheels on the back are wide and easy to roll. It has six adjustable carpet settings, ( although most people will probably just use one or two) it doesn't self adjust like the domestic line of Orecks. The cleaning path is 12" and it doesn't have a light. However, it only weighs about 14lbs and is super light to carry and push around and it will lay completely flat so you can get under furniture.

My only complaints are few and not enough I feel to lower my rating. The bag is reusable, that's great right? No more bags to buy right? Well the only problem is that when you empty the bag it tends to throw some dust into the air. Because of this you may want to empty it outside, a small inconvenience but worth it when you see just what this thing gets out of your carpet!

Another gripe I have is with the cord storage system, the clips are plastic and don't rotate to allow the cord to fall of in one motion. You have to unwind it by hand. Only takes a few seconds but still, would be a nice feature to have. And since the clips are plastic, I doubt they will last long but they are replaceable, so we'll see how it goes.

The only other complaint I have is that isn't made completely in the USA like their domestic vacs, it says designed and developed in the USA but made in PROC. Which I assume is the People's Republic of China. Now, I primarily bought an Oreck because I thought all their uprights were made in the USA and I hate to buy Chinese made goods.

However, it shipped from a plant in Cookeville, TN which makes other uprights. It would appear that these vacuums might be made in China but the final Quality Control check is still done in the USA. This is actually fine by me, as it means there are still jobs for US citizens even though the vacuum is made overseas. You wouldn't be able to tell it though by the build quality.

True this vacuum doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the other vacuums have. It doesn't have a hose attachment or any on board tools. Fine by me, I have never owned a vacuum with on board tools where the hose didn't start slipping out over time. Such a pain to be vacuuming for a bit only to realize the hose has come undone and you have to redo that section.

As someone said on another review, everything made is a Swiss Army knife anymore, nothing is made to do one thing well, only do several things ok. Well I'll tell you this vacuum does clean carpet and it does it well.

This vacuum is not for use on bare floors or hardwood floors. It has a feature on the brush roll that will damage a bare floor. There are only two rows of bristles, but opposite those bristles are metal nubs that when they pass over the floor they vibrate the carpet.( this model has a fiberglass brush roll so I don't know it has the vibrator feature ) This causes the deep down dirt to be vibrated out of the carpet so the vacuum can suck it up. Very cool!

Update: I just wanted to add, after reading the first review that this vacuum eats belts, I think I understand why they are having a problem. You have to set the carpet height higher than you might think. The vacuum should just slightly, and ever so slightly drag on the carpet, it should glide over it fairly easily. If you set it too low, the brush roll just digs into the carpet and causes enough friction to heat up the belt. I know if you are used to using a department store vacuum you think it needs to drag on the carpet but this vacuum picks up very well without beating the hell out of the carpet. Just buy it and use it and you will see what I mean.

The guy who said this unit has no sucking must have gotten a lemon.

Mine works great.Very good suction, even when the bag fills up. Its small size and light weight make it very maneuverable. It was the cheapest unit in the store where I purchased it, which made me a little leery, but I'm delighted with it.Also, while I wouldn't say that this unit is quiet, it certainly is not unreasonably loud.

Look, if you've got a 6,500 square foot house, this isn't the unit for you.If you've got a small apartment, with limited closet space, as I do, get the Zing; it's great!

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme Bagged Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my husband and I decided to replace our 12-year old Hoover, we did hours of internet research on vacuums.Eventually, we decided to stick with a bag model, as dealing with canisters and filters sounded like too much trouble (plus, we don't have pets, so we didn't really see the need). After weighing various factors, from special features to ease of use to price, we decided to go with this Hoover Windtunnel model.

We got a great price using Amazon's discount offer, and the vacuum shipped very quickly despite our choice of Super Saver shipping. The unit required only simple assembly, although I should note that our package was missing a required bolt, so we had to contact Hoover for a replacement and wait another week or so before we were able to complete assembly and use the vacuum. Finally, we had the opportunity to try our new product. The first thing we noticed was the sound, as this vacuum, while still loud, is noticeably quieter than our old Hoover.Second, the cord is significantly longer (about 30 feet), which is very convenient for maneuvering around our home.My husband also appreciated the convenience of the headlight, although to be fair, most newer models include this feature.

As far as cleaning ability goes, this vacuum does a good job.It doesn't necessarily out-perform our old vacuum, but it does seem to stir up less dust. Also, the larger vacuum head speeds up the chore time a bit (although it also makes it harder to fit in tight places). The dirt indicator light did seem to be consistent with areas that required a bit more attention, which was nice.Another feature of this vacuum is the build-in handle at the unit's base for cleaning stairs; this was a nice idea, but my husband (who does the majority of the vacuuming in our house--lucky me!) found it to be a bit cumbersome and uncomfortable to use.

Overall, we are happy with our choice of this vacuum, a solid performer that can be purchased via Amazon at a very reasonable price. If you are living in a home with no pets and looking for a good basic vacuum, this would be an excellent choice.

UPDATE JULY 2008:Unfortunately, I need to downgrade my review of this vacuum, as its performance has deteriorated over time, and we are currently in the market to purchase a new one.My husband, who is the main user of the vacuum, compiled the following list of complaints:

1. The on/off switch ceased working shortly after the one-year warranty period expired.Currently, the vacuum can only be turned on or off by plugging and unplugging the unit from an electrical outlet.

2. The height adjuster failed, also shortly after the one-year warranty period expired; the vacuum now leaves an odd-looking wave pattern on the carpet unless it is used at the highest setting (which is the least effective).

3. The natural forward momentum of the vacuum stopped after only a few months of use, making the unit more difficult to push.

4. The dirt indicator light seems arbitrary and thus virtually useless.

5. The vacuum is awkward to use on stairs:the place to grab is not a handle--rather, it is just an indentation in the plastic, which becomes painful to hold after only a few seconds.

6. The cord does not remain attached to the clamps on vacuum during use: when the cord is fully extended, it pulls loose of the clamps, causing it to constantly get underfoot.

7. The vacuum's motor "revs" loudly at random times and for no apparent reason.

8. The dirt bags are difficult both to attach and to remove.

9. The vacuum does not perform well on hard floors: it blows dirt around, necessitating several passes.

10. The vacuum feels heavy and has a wide head, making cleaning in tight spaces difficult.

Dyson DC14 Animal Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC14 Animal Cyclone Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have had the DC14 Animal less than a week, but so far we are amazed at it's performance. With 2 teenage kids, 2 Newfoundland dogs, a cat, a parrot and a finch, the floors see their fair share of dirt, hair, crumbs and feathers. We have mostly carpet with some hardwood floors with runners. This machine does an equally great job on all. Its is easy to push around and the long cord allows you to cover a lot of area without having to find another outlet. The wand is easy to use and, judging by the reviews on the DC07, an improved design. Instead of having to disconnect it from the hose, turn it around and re-connect it as noted on earlier reviews on the DC07, you just release it from the handle and extend it.

I don't put a lot of credit in the "sweep with old vacuum then sweep with new" to determine how much better the new unit is. I tried sweeping with the new unit and then swept again with the new unit and picked up more dirt. The test that convinced me that this does a better job is on an item that has never been succesfully cleaned with the old vacuum. We have a 2x4 dirt mat that is in front of the door between the garage and house. It is of a thick fiber material that catches and holds dirt and especially dog hair. Our old Hoover bagless has never been able to completely clean it. In order to remove the hair, we had to use a short stiff bristle brush and brush it out. The DC14 did the job. Did it do it in one swipe you ask? No. I had to sweep it good to get it clean but it did remove ALL the hair and dirt. I was definitly impressed.

We have not used the tools enough to form any kind of opinion on them yet. We have used the turbo brush on the furniture and it seems to do a decent job but I would recommend that you remove the handle from the hose and fit the brush on the end of the hose. It makes it much easier to use.

OK! That's the fluff. Now for the grit.
I guess nothing in this world is perfect. This is the second DC14 we have had in a week. The first unit made an awful ratcheting noise when we used it on the runners on the hardwood floor. I had seen other reviews that commented on this along with statements that it is a design feature to prevent damage to the life-long brush drive belt. If a rug gets sucked up into the brush and tries to stall the brush, a clutch begines to slip rather than burn the belt up. I called Dyson and they confirmed this. Good plan in theory. However, we had tried both the DC07 and the DC14 display models at the store. The section of carpet was similar to a throw rug. I could see the rug being sucked up to the head and hear the brush bar flogging the snot out of it and neither one of those machines ratcheted. In my case, the brush bar was turning and didn't sound like it was trying to stall so, assuming maybe the tension on the clutch on my machine was not set properly, I took it back and exchanged it for another. No more ratcheting sounds. I think Dyson needs a little more "Quality Control" on their clutch. I might add there is a good example why some items might be better purchased from a local store. Much less hassle if you do experience a problem.

All and all, we are very satisfied with the DC14. Only time will tell on it's durability. But in view of the fact it is an improved version of the DC07 and reviews have shown for the most part it holds up well, I expect this vacuum to last as long or longer than any other leading bagless vacuum currently on the market.

If it wasn't for the fact of having to take the first unit back, I would have given it 5 stars. I recommend the DC14.

Product Description:
Designed for homes with pets, this Dyson upright vacuum cleaner features advanced Root Cyclone technology to ensure thorough, efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction. Effective for use on all floor types, the unit's motorized brushbar can be turned on to remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, or turned off to protect rugs and delicate floors. The unit's pre-motor filter removes particles down to 0.1 micron and can be washed, while its post-motor electrostatic filter, which never needs replacing, traps harmful carbon emissions from the motor.
The vacuum cleaner also comes equipped with a quick-draw Telescope reach; the wand releases and expands 17-feet at the touch of a button for stairs and high-reach cleaning. In addition, the unit's advanced mini turbine head cleans pet hair from confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs, and the car, and its low-reach floor tool attaches to the wand to clean hard-to-reach places such as under beds and sofas. The intake nozzles of the on-board tools direct high-velocity airflow down into the carpet pile, which provides two main advantages. More gets picked up because the directional force of the air agitates and dislodges dust, and it keeps airflow continuous even when vacuuming curtains or upholstery, preventing them from becoming stuck to the cleaner.
Thoughtfully designed, the unit's hygienic 5/7-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--simply pull the trigger. The clear bin allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when the bin's full. Air expelled from the unit contains up to 150 times less mold and bacteria than common breathing air thanks to the vacuum's money-saving, lifetime HEPA filter. Furthermore, Dyson upright vacuums are the first and only vacuums certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation. Other highlights include a 14-foot quick-draw hose, a wide channel for picking up larger pieces, auto carpet-height adjustment, a 35-2/5-foot cord, and an ergonomic design with a low handle that feels lighter to carry. The included carpet-care kit helps keep new carpets looking new. The Zorb powder absorbs dirt from carpets; the Dyzolve spray removes spills and marks. Kenmore Bagless Canister Vacuum Review

This vacuum is light weight and handy, but if you want a vacuum that sucks dirt up from carpet, this is not your vacuum!!Mine sucks dirt from hardwood floors just fine, but I have to vacuum about ten times in the same place on carpet for it to pick up fluffy stuff. It makes a great carpet sweeper though because the brushy thingys inside the nozzle thingy brush the cat hair and stuff off the carpet real well ... they just don't get sucked up after that, they wipe back off in another place on the carpet ... :)

Bissell 37601 Lift-Off Revolution Turbo Upright Bagless Vacuum Review

An upgrade to my last Bissell (Cleanview Deluxe),this one is even better....was ONSALE for $160, and well worth it.
Removeable canister capability is easy and makes this vac so much more versitile...such as taking out to your car or for carpeted steps. I really love the user friendly design of these Bissell vacs....never complex, and I don't feel I need a manual to understand or operate.
Super suction...and the brushes are so powerful, it almost feels self propelled as you push forward.
The 'telescoping' function of the extension wand was a nice upgrade, although it does takes a little time getting used to it...also the new dual-headed brush tool is an inovative idea i like.
Another really nice upgrade is the on/off brush power button...and the vac is now smart, even when brushes are powered ON, they wont rotate till you step on the release pedal AND pull the handle down towards you.
I also noticed you can now pull the handle down literally to the FLOOR without the front of the vac lifting up...this means being able to roll further under couches/tight spots.

If I had to give CONS :

1) There are 3 filters...1 HEPA and 2 foam...the foam filters in particular should be cleaned once a month,as directed..but I check even more often (due to high traffic/pets)... They can get pretty dirty relatively fast, and although u may not notice any loss of suction,I assume cleaning these filters often will always improve performance...... Its not hard to do, they are basically foam sponges u can rinse clean, and they dry pretty quick.

2) The vac when all together as 1 unit, is pretty heavy. Doesnt bother me, but may be an issue to some. My wife immediately noticed the weight... The canaster vac, when separated, is easy to carry with its handle, but some may still find even this a little heavy as well.
In my opinion, the weight is due to good construction and a strong motor. I think its worth it.

3) Seems like a lot of new vacs come with some form or version of a 'turbo brush' attachment. I'm not a fan of these...the brushes are SUCTION driven, NOT motor driven. Its a gimmick tool.. I prefer the simple NON turbo brush tool that come with this vac, and I let the suction power (and a little up/down motion of my own) do the work. I keep the turbo brush permanantly removed from the handle altogether. To me its just added dead weight.

4) only 1 improvenment I could think of now is a retracteable cord....

Eureka 6510A WhirlWind XL 12-Amp Bagless Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

I've waited a few months to write this, to make sure I'm still pleased with this vac, and I am. I give a lot of thought to my vacuums, because I use it every day (dogs that shed a lot). Here's my vacuum analysis: 1. I like canister vacs vs. uprights because pushing just the head of a canister vac is less tiring than pushing around the total weight of an upright vac. 2. When considering the power of a vac, I don't buy anything less than 12 amps. (which this vac has) AND I purchase one with a power head too (which this vac has). More power! 3. When replacing my old vac (a Sears Kenmore which I loved, but they no longer get good reviews), I decided to go bagless because the price of bags has gone up so much. I chose this one because it has a large dust canister, unlike some of the other brands. It's easy enough to remove, empty, and replace back into the vac. 4. This vac is lightweight too. Not relevant, but it's also cute. 5. A few of the tools -crevice and brush- attach onto the long wand. No, they're not onboard. But you have to lose something to make up for the dust cannister. 6. I tried an experiment regarding the suction. I vacuumed the den carpet first with another vac. Then vacuumed with this vac for the first time after receiving it. I couldn't believe how much dirt it picked up! Cupfulls! 7. The cord is a little short for me, my rooms are large and I do have to unplug it and plug it again into another outlet. (Lazy me to complain about this.) 8. This vac has 3 filters in all. The HEPA filter in the vac; replace yearly. Then another [thick] filter on the dust canister. This one can be washed. And another [thin] filter on the vac that the thick filter then filters into; can also be washed. Nice feature - to be able to wash filters. I'd like to get duplicates for these 2 (for while those others are drying) but can't figure out which filters these are via limited info Eureka (or other) websites give. Sigh. 9. By the way, cheapest price for this vac I found was thru ABC Vacuums website, also free (and quick) shipping.

Dirt Devil Rechargeable Broom Vacuum Review

Dirt Devil Rechargeable Broom Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Health scare paranoia aside, does the product work? None of the quick-clean floor products substitute for old-fashioned scrubbing on hands and knees. At least, none that I've come across.

But if you appreciate the convenience of a Swiffer-type product and ease of a hand-vacuum, but dislike the cost of Swiffer-type refill papers and the sad limitations of a hand-vac, you might find this a worthwhile quick-fix to the problem of labrador-created dust bunnies and toddler-inspired cracker crumbs.

The Rechargeable Broom Vacuum is just that -- a Dust Buster and broom all in one. Good suction and holds the charge nicely, too. A negative point because unlocking the dirt container from the motor is a bit cumbersome. On the other hand, unlike my hand-vac, I don't actually have to stick my hands into the accumulated 'ick' to empty the container.

Anything to avoid pulling out a vacuum cleaner, this product does exactly what I hoped and expected it would do. It doesn't polish the floors. It doesn't do rugs, curtains or upholstery. And while a broom and dust pan may offer the convenience of operating without an electrical charge, my back doesn't so for that, I give this one a thumb's up.

The listing claims these are compatible with Kenmore 50690 bags. Well, depends on your definition of compatible.See the pics for a direct comparison. The Kenmore bag is 7 x 18 x 5.5 inches (width x height x depth with pleats straightened out), while the Riccar bag is 6.5 x 15.5 x 4 inches --about 60% the volume. If these were dirt cheap, I'd say they are worth it, but in fact, these are 60% of the price of the Sears 50690 bags, so, the same cost per volume dirt storage. I'm not impressed with the claim of 50690 compatibility.
They do seem well made.
