Bosch BSG71360UC Formula Electro Duo HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Bosch BSG71360UC Formula Electro Duo HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We moved to a three-story townhouse, and it quickly became clear that my loud, clumsy old Hoover upright was not going to work out in our new home. I nearly went deaf trying to vacuum the stairs, and trying to keep an upright balanced on the steps was an exercise in futility.

So I was convinced that a canister vac was the way to go. This is the second one I tried and the one I decided to keep.

Suction is very good. I'm sure it could be stronger, but given the light weight and the quiet operation, I'm very happy with its ability to clean. In a tradeoff between outright suction and weight, I'm happy to err in favor of a lighter unit, especially with three stories to clean.

The power brush attachment is great on low-to-medium height pile and works better than I'd expected on hardwood floors. A switch to turn the brushroll on and off is right on the handle, which is a must in my book. Crevice, upholstery, and dusting brush attachments are included and fit nicely onboard. They're useful, if a little small.

On the downside, the other reviewers are spot-on with the complaints about the hose length. It could certainly be longer, and though it has a telescoping wand, it's not enough to reach that far overhead.

In addition, I think it would've been more convenient had they put suction strength and on/off controls on the handle, as is the case with the competing Electrolux Oxygen3 that I tried.

I do wish it were priced lower, but after spending many weekends trying out the available alternatives at brick-and-mortar stores, I just couldn't find anything that had the Bosch's virtues with a comparable price. If your priority is having a quiet, compact, and lightweight vacuum with excellent suction and all the essential cleaning tools, it's probably worth the premium.

Electrolux EL 7055A Twin Clean Bagless Canister Vacuum Review

Electrolux EL 7055A Twin Clean Bagless Canister Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Until I purchased this! This nifty little vacuum achieves what no other vacuum can. It's powerful and robust yet light to handle.I was thinking about buying a Dyson, but they are so heavy to push around and I needed a flexible power head that can reach under furniture. The power head lays almost completely flat and slides easily under beds, sofa's and other furniture. All of the components are tough yet light. The hose is excellent and the telescopic part is made from aluminum, it's very solid.

It comes with a crevice tool and a dusting brush which are located on the hose handle and a separatewell made hard floor brush that has real bristles and wheels, and an upholstery brush. The fact that I don't have to pick fluff and dust off the filter is a real plus, the bagless models are usually so annoying for that reason. This vacuum cleans its own filter with a simple maneuver.

The controls are located on the hose handle and are push buttons not switches, there are 3, the on/off, bare floor/carpet and suction control of which there are 2 levels. There are two lighted (a cool neon blue!) indicators on the canister for suction level and filter cleaning.

It is very easy to lift off the dust container and you press a lever to empty it out.I found it better to do this without shaking or tapping thedust out too much as it can cloud out all over the container if you are not careful, I then just dusted the lid and body with a swifer duster to clean up the fine dust.

I was quite shocked at what the cleaner picked up, it seemed to remove dirt that was really embedded in my medium pile carpet and I had been vacuuming regularly with my Kenmoore.

The only problem I have is that the power head is noisy, but I can forgive that because it works hard. The canister itself is not noisy when you switch to bare floor it is quieter than average. Also, I am not sure that the power head picks up that well on the bare floor option, I got a better result using the bare floor brush.

All round a super stylish high tech piece of Swedish engineering. It is expensive, but you are buying the Rolls Royce of vacuum cleaners.

Panasonic OptiFlow Lightweight Canister Vacuum Cleaner, Bagged, MC-CG885 Review

Panasonic MC-CG885 OptiFlow Lightweight Bag Canister Vacuum Cleaner

This vacuum cleaner sucks. There I said it, now that that's out of the way let's get down to the nitty gritty the down and dirty. For the past five years or so I've only been using bag less vacuums. I have three. A Eureka upright, a Panasonic small canister and a DustBuster. Bag less vacuums are a breed unto themselves. You get to save the cost of the bags but you have to figure out how to empty them without making a bigger mess than you just cleaned up.You have to supply a bag of some sort so you can contain the dirt and dispose of it neatly. With a bag vacuum like the MC-CG885 that's not a problem. What IS a problem is the bag inside is quite small and very costly. As Amazon doesn't sell it (yet??) I found it on the Internet for about $6 per bag. For a bag as small as it is, that could be quite an expensive proposition to maintain. My first thought is if you have new carpet, they usually shed for quite a while (my bag less upright pulled up a lot of blue fuzz) and you'll fill these bags very quickly. Going back to my first sentence, this "OptiFlow" has a lot of suction power. That's good it pulled up dirt like nobody's business.

To begin back at the beginning, assembling this vacuum was relatively easy. The hose attaches to the body with an easy twist and the wands also go together with positive latching mechanisms that are quite secure. Just make sure you connect the outboard power line so the beater bar and light get their power. It's a simple, one way is right, positive connection. When it's all together I noticed a few issues. There is a hook on the body to support the wand and head in an upright position for storage or rest. It sometimes tips over.If the head is set to anything other than extra low it always tips over.It won't park as easily as an upright. It on the other hand isn't as heavy as a typical upright. It's fairly maneuverable too. It has three free spinning casters on its bottom and they roll easily on carpet or floor. I have both. The power cord is VERY long so you can plug it in and clean a large area or maybe two rooms. It retracts easily with the press of the large button on the top of the canister. Under the "hood"it has hidden storage for the crevice tool and small brush. Both work as expected. The business end of the hose has a pistol type grip and sliding on off switch. This is where you can attach the tools or by disconnecting the head end power cord you can use one of the rods for an extended reach. The power switch is an Off, Floor, Carpet three position switch. It also controls the beater bar on the head piece. It operates smoothly and efficiently.

I experimented with different heightsfor the head end. At its lowest setting it has a tendency to want to pull you forward, It's very strong and digs into the carpet. As I raised it that corrected the situation and still got the cleaning done. Just be careful to get the right height setting. As for cleaning a floor, not so good. Light or loose dust is fine but for heavier grime you'll need something better for that. It's not a mop.

Changing the bag is easy and neat. It rests in a basket that has a handle to lift it out of the body. It's all under the big hood that opens easily. That the bag is small and expensive is the biggest most damning strike on this otherwise fine vacuum. It is also relatively quiet for one that is as powerful as it is. I would love to see Panasonic come up with an emptyable cartridge that would go where the bag is, but that's not going to happen.

To sum up. It's strong, quiet, easy to use and does a very good job. I just can't get over the fact that you will be running up serious expenses on bags.

UPDATE: March 14: I would raise the Star level to 4 now that Amazon is selling the bags and at a reasonable price (4 for $10). It ends my biggest gripe.

After replacing carpeting with wood flooring, I was on the lookout for a good, light weight canister. My upright did not work on the wood floors and the hose attachment created back-breaking work.Sweeping & swiffering still left dust behind. After many months of searching I found this Panasonic. My upright Panasonic has been a rugged, dependable machine, so I knew the brand would be a sound buy. This vacuum is just perfect for wood/laminate/tile floors. In addition it does great on area rugs (low pile) and it's a dream on stairs (carpeted).Light weight, easy to manuever, with very good suction. Powerhead adjusts to wood/carpet and the rotating brush makes sure all dirt disappears.Very pleased with this vacuum.

Eureka 3670G Boss Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Eureka 3670G Boss Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When trying to decide if this model (3670G) was the right vacuum for me, I found a considerable amount of confusing information regarding it's features on the internet..and from the manufacturer itself. First of all, many online retailers flat out state (inaccurately) that this model has a "HEPA" (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter and at least one of the reviews for it here on Amazon (at least as of this writing) seems to indicate that it has one as well. I can tell you outright that having checked with the manufacturer directly and now owning one myself that it does *NOT* have a "HEPA" filter. More on that a little later in this review however.

I found another confusing aspect of the description is in the model number (i.e. 3670G). Be careful to understand the difference between what Amazon calls the 3670 (also called the 3670A in some places) and the 3670*G* models. They look identical and appear to be identical (both are yellow and black) however the 3670 only has a 9 amp motor and the 3670G has the larger, 12 amp motor. Amazon carries both models and I almost ended up buying the smaller one thinking it was the same vacuum. For only about a $5-$10 difference in total price, I'm not sure why the smaller version is even offered. It only seems to confuse the matter. The 3670 also does *NOT* have the "HEPA" filter incidentally.

I found the 3670G to be an excellent value however and am pleased with my purchase. It is compact, very powerful and great for my needs. The noise...while high...isquite tolerable and not at all excessive considering how well it cleans. The generously long cord wraps easily around the base for storage and while a retractable cord would have been extremely useful, not having one is a reasonable trade-off in keeping the price down. The blower port feature is very handy for cleaning my computer insides (by blowing away dust without contacting electrical components as vacuuming would risk doing).

The 3670G *does* require bags. It is not a "bagless" model however and while some may prefer a bagless model, I preferred a model that used bags. The bags are very easy to change on this model and not that much of an additional expense for what I consider to be the additional convenience (of being able to easily remove and dispose of a bag).

The only reason I gave this model 4 stars and not 5 was because I did not find the attachment brushes quite adequate. Three attachment tools are included, a crevice tool, a 10" floor tool and a combination tool with a triangularly-shaped brush (about 2" wide) on the end. The combination tool also flips over to double as brushless pick-up (3" wide).

In my opinion, this cleaner badly needs a mid-sized brush and/or pick up tool that is about 4-5" wide. The 2" wide combination tool brush does concentrate the suction into a small area for high power but being only 2" wide, I found that I simply had to move it much too frequently on larger surfaces (such as a wall for example) in order to cover the area needed. I would have rated this vacuum 5 stars if a brush about 4-5" wide had been included. As it is, I am searching for an optional brush that size to purchase extra.

Finally, a comment about the "HEPA" filter. Some people (particularly those with allergies or who need extremely dust free air) may want cleaners that include this item. In my case, I did not want this since I don't need it and "HEPA" filters can be quite expensive to change and replace (unless you get a washable one...also expensive). Since many online descriptions I found were unclear whether the 3670G included this filter (some descriptions flatly stated that it does), I found myself calling the Eureka customer service number to find out for sure.

It turned out that even Eureka's own customer service representative was unsure whether it contained the filter or not and had to take some considerable time to find out that it didn't have one. If you *do* want the "HEPA" filter, you would want the 3684D...which looks the same butis red in color, slightly more expensive, and has more and better quality attachments as well as the "HEPA" filter.By the time you add in the cost of an optional additional attachment (which I mentioned earlier that I think is needed on the 3670G), you are at the price of a 3684D. In that case, the 3684D may well be a better value for you, particularly if you like the "HEPA" filter.

Overall, I think "The Boss" series of canister vacuums is a great product. Eureka (and Amazon as well) needs to do a much better job of clarifying the differences between the particular models in the series however.

Dyson DC33 Multi floor Review

Dyson DC33 Multi floor
Average Reviews:

I've been using this product for a month now, and am satisfied overall. Its suction is incredible, the beater-bar does a great job on big carpets.Emptying the canister is genius simple - just hold it over the garbage can, press the button, and you are done!It is relatively lightweight for an upright, and the way it all clips together it is very easy to carry around and up/down stairs. It also looks cool for a vacuum, so my kids want to play with it (for now, anyway).Way less hassle than my old FilterQueen with four seperate pieces to lug around!

Here's what I would have liked to have known in advance:The super suction means it tries to eat small throw carpets, and you have to ackwardly put a foot on both ends of the carpet to keep it down while you vacuum it; Although it does have a very long reach when the wand is removed from the upright, the flexible tube is so springy it pulls back on itself and drags the upright part around while you are trying to use the wand part.It says it reaches 17ft - but effectively it is only usable for about 6-8 feet because of the springiness. It is really only a FLOOR vacuum, as it cannot be used for things like vacuuming the car, or dusting around stuff on top of the piano or mantle, as the business end of the wand is a four foot straight tube - the flexibility is all at the motor end of the wand.It does not go under any furniture, but I can live with that.

I received the MM vacuum bags and found they were the wrong ones.I got online, and found that I could talk to a Amazon rep in person.Put in my phone number, waited 5 minutes (my choice) and got a very nice rep named David. Now David researched my problem, and lo and behold found the correct bags for my 900A Eureka that I had just received (compared bags with one that came with vacuum-that's how I was certain the MM 9 pack bags were wrong), and gave me this number-B003L20FT0.He also gave me a credit for the wrong bags.I promptly went in and ordered the above replacement bags. They were only $4.99 for a 5 pack.Hope this helps everyone out that bought the Eureka 900A Mighty Mite vacuum..
