(More customer reviews)For all of you reading this, understand as previously stated, this is a SWEEPER not a VACUUM!! Works extremely well for picking up things you would normally have to get a whiskbroom and dustpan for. It is QUIET, it is not for sweeping the whole carpet or hard surface floor, (although you could) It is for a quick pick up for dust bunnies, hair and spilled items such as cereal in those hard to reach areas. I would definitely recommend this to all!! Biggest thing is, you have to understand it is a sweeper, and a darn good one!! Also make sure that you charge it for 24 hours on your first charge. If you read the booklet that comes with it, you won't have any problems with it. I guess what I am trying to say is... you just need to be a little bit smarter than the sweeper!!

I wanted to be able to have the carpet look nice all the time without dragging out the big vacuum. This product works and meets my need. However, I bought it in March and it is now June and it seems a bit worn out. It was quiet and now it is loud. It sounds like it is breaking down....it doesnt hold a charge as long anymore but it still works. My baby is crawling now and it keeps all the little choking hazards up. I feel like it won't last much longer but I am thankful I have it right now.

(More customer reviews)I bought this after using an older model of a rechargeable Shark sweeper at my office.The same model was no longer available so I picked this one up at Kohl's when I had a 30% off coupon.I still ended up paying $42.00 (regular price was SIXTY dollars!).

I set up the unit and let it charge the recommended time (24 hours). The battery life was fine. At first, it seemed to work okay in my kitchen picking up crumbs and such.But on carpet it was worthless. The unit just didn't pick up anything.I would have to roll the unit over and over and over the same spot just to get it to pick up the smallest things. And cleaning it was horrible - it was dusty and dirty.Yuck!

I finally gave up and returned it. I considered that maybe I had purchased a defective unit and almost exchanged it.But I decided that it took too long to initially charge it and with all the parts that had to be connected upon set up, I'd rather not mess with it again. Besides, for $60, I expected a LOT better results.I replaced it with a cheap stick vac that has to be plugged in, but it seems to have about twice as much sucking power.

(More customer reviews)Don't throw away your Shark, if like many, your battery gives out. This replacement pack, properly charged when you receive it, should make your Shark sweeper run like new. It surely did, for mine, which had heavy and daily use for over a year, until I noticed the original battery pack would not hold a charge, likely due to "memory."

This unit is SO EASY to install, and takes only seconds. I would suspect that in many cases, users who are unhappy with the Shark sweepers, and "apparent" battery problems, need a replacement like this, in additionto making sure that the battery is DISCHARGED before putting the sweeper back on the charging unit. This, alone will extend battery life, considerably.

My entire house is hardwood floors and I've tried several upright vacuums, and they ALL shoot stuff out of the back. The Shark never shoots anything out...and 99.9% of the time it picks everything up: from rice, coffee, dust-bunnies, crumbs, coins, potato chips...anything that other expensive vacuums I've tried can't. It's convenient to use, lightweight, it stays charged (which btw, when calibrating the battery, they suggest you charge/drain the battery twice. I've drained it once so far, and it ran for over 45 minutes). The swivel handle is great, and maneuvers like a steering wheel.
I even use this thing on the back porch to pick up leaves, berries, and stuff I don't feel like getting out the broom & dustpan for.
I don't think this machine is designed for heavy duty work, or not sure how it would perform on deep-pile carpet, but for my hardwood situation it's perfect!
Also, the little wheel for baseboards really works! It throws stuff right in front of the beeterbar to be consumed.

It weighs just a few pounds and it's not more than about a foot wide.It looks like a nicely designed play vacuum cleaner for children, except that it has a full length handle. It is a simple machine with no filters to replace or clean. The dirt tray is very easy to empty. The huge surprise was how well this thing worked, when it worked at all.I bought one and used it a few times durng the next week or two.It didn't do as good a job as my upright vacuum, but it came remarkably close, with about a tenth the effort.But then it died.A part came loose and fell off.I returned the sweeper and got another.That one didn't last ten minutes!It is a shame, because this would be a very useful convenient sweeper if it were reliable.As it is, I have to give up on it and advise people to avoid it.

I found that you had to sweep dirt into a pile, then use the side of the broom with the hole to ensure suction.It was easier to get out the dust pan.This is NOT IDEAL FOR PET HAIR.It will sweep it, but will not vacuum the pat hair.

The concept is great - a cordless broom that vacuums - but the product just didn't accomplish what it should.

(More customer reviews)I have this one and the 3 speed shark sweeper, and I like this one alot better.It is more compact, so it gets around places real easy, where the other is 13 inches wide and won't fitin certain areas as easily.I use it everyday and it runs fine, with no problems. The bigger one seems to bog down on carpets, even when I set it for carpets, but not this little guy.. Oh, and this quick n quiet sweeper is alot quieter that the bigger ones, but does the job as good or better in my opinion..

(More customer reviews)This "Touchless" is even better than my first Swivel Sweeper.Being able to hold it over the trash and push the button to empty vs release a tray, pick it up, bang it on the side of the trash and find the holes to replace.It also has cleaning tools and a magnet that holds the "head" next to the pole for slimmer storage.I use it almost daily and charge it once a week.I have hardwood, tile and vinyl and also use it on area rugs so that I really don't need my vacuum.If I had carpeting it wouldn't suffice for more than quickie pick ups.There are 2 caveats 1) don't overcharge the battery.With my first I just left it in the charger for sometimes days between uses and I think I drained it so that it wouldn't hold a charge.Now I make sure I don't charge it for over 24 hours like the directions indicate.2) it is a moderate pain to clean the hair out of the brushes.I also have a Roomba so I am used to cleaning the unit regularly.That said, I love it that it is so easy and quick; it goes under beds and sofas and areas that don't require you to move furniture.You just can't beat how easy it allows you to quickly clean your major areas daily in minutes. It doesn't scratch my wood floors,which was a concern.I don't know about you but I frequently "miss the counter" in the kitchen on a daily basis and don't like "feeling" stuff on my bare feet.Daily swiveling takes care of that in an instant.

(More customer reviews)My vacuum cleaner died, and honestly I have been putting off buying another one. They are expensive and unwieldy to use. I borrowed a friends Swivel Sweeper G2 Elite, and I love it. It's new love so I guess I may have to come back here in a month to let every one know if the honeymoon is over!

Trust me when I say the look of the Sweeper does not inspire confidence. I was convinced this light small unit would not pick up a thing. I was wrong! Happy to be, now I am running out today to buy my own. I picked up cat hair and litter with ease, and it was quite easy to get into tight places without a thought, I didn't have to unplug and replug or change the attachments which is pain to do. It also glided along my baseboards where cat hair tends to accumulate. It works well on tile flooring as well, but I have to say I won't give up my broom quite yet. I used it every day for about 4 days, and I don't think I will need to get a regular vacuum cleaner right now. In my situation it can truly replace the vacuum cleaner.

There are some drawbacks, I had to pull out the pet hair that wraps around the part that swivels and dump it frequently, especially if you have pets. And I don't think it will work on thick carpet at all. It works well on thin carpet or carpet that has a tight low weave. I did notice the areas considered low traffic where the carpet is thicker was a bit of a problem. The unit would catch on the carpet and flip over. Not a deal breaker but a bit annoying.The jury is out on how long it will hold a charge, I read other reviews and this appears to be a sticking point. I also have concerns about the durability of the item, it seems to last about a year, based on what I have read.

Even though the item has some drawbacks, I gave it 5 stars based on the ease of use, it picks up pet hair on the carpet and I can get it in places a traditional vacuum will not go. The pros far outweigh the cons, but I will be back to with an update if all does not go as planned!

(More customer reviews)The people at Shark and Euro-Pro cleaning companies have always known how to make so many great products with vacuums, and carpet sweepers. Nevertheless, when it comes down to it, it really is on how well the vacuum really lasts. Shark's previous cordless sweepers have all done a great job at picking up after everyday messes, but they have been some glitches. I was honestly very skeptical with the latest model when I saw it on television, and I liked it a lot, but as I started to use it, I was hoping for just a bit more. Here is my verdict.

The Shark VX3 Cordless Sweeper is the latest in Euro-Pro's well-recieved carpet sweeper line. This one does a good job at picking up after pet hair and fuzz, and is very simple to setup. You can pick up actually a lot of pet hair, fuzz, or anything off your floors and carpets. It is easy to charge up, and does really works well. The no-mess dust cup is very simple to clean up, and easily removes all that was picked up from the floors. The vacuum is also very easy to carry around, and take from room to room, without feeling the drag of carrying around your vacuum and getting a backache.

That is what I think, even though there really are a few problems that still make could've been a bit easier to pick up after. The first problem deals with the battery. ou have to really keep the sweeper plugged in to your outelt for at least a day, inorder to fully charge a the battery. The VX3's battery also could've had a bit stronger battery life than just an hour long. The second problem deals with the backsaver feature. While the VX3 does pick up well, and is easy to operate, I had a tricky time manuvering the VX3 with the backsaver handle. While the concept is ingenius at folding the handle to make it easier at picking up under the beds and those hard-to-reach areas, it is honestly a little bit harder to control and steer the sweeper.

Still, despite a few problems with the Shark VX3 Cordless Sweeper, I still think it is a very good buy for anyone who wants a easier way to clean up after all those messes on the floor. It just does a great job at really cleaning up your floors and is great for small homes and apartments, or any home that works at a great pace. While you can get this though the As Seen On TV ads, you also can find this at your nearest Macy's for around $70, instead of getting both the VX3 and VX1 models like the infomercial says in its offer for $130. So, suck those problems on the floor away, and try this sweeper out.

Make sure you completely deplete the battery before recharging, then set a timer to make sure it's not left in the charger. (Or purchase one of the newer battery chargers that automatically shut off.)

(More customer reviews)Picked this up at Kohls locally, who also had the Shark.Wasn't impressed with how to empty the Shark, and it wasn't on sale.So, bought this figuring on an easy return.

First day thoughts:Charging for 16 hours right out of the box is a bit annoying, but no more so than any other recent rechargeable.Got a chance to use it today - I bought it, essentially, because we live in the pacific northwest and have hardwood.sweeping is a pain, and vacuuming happens only weekly, so a quick picker-upper of pine needles is WONDERFUL.We used to have a roomba running, but with a toddler in the house, that's pretty scary - who knows what it will jam on. Maybe we'll use the roomba once he's a few years older.

Tried this first on the hardwood.It did ok under the cabinet feet, swept up pine needles pretty respectably without tossing them.Did not do very well on the "foot scrubber" entry-way doormats - I think those pine needles are pretty embedded.Overall, hardwood was ok. Margins of rugs was adequate but not great.Actually, that was my first out-loud comment to the family - "hey, this is pretty adequate". Won't win any awards on hard surface floors -- honestly i want a hugely powerful vacuum without a brush.So far no product that does that. But, didn't fail either. Grabbed the dog food and pine needles, although it occasionally took more than one pass to get it.

Then, went to the high-traffic pine needle areas - which is pretty much just off every hardwood area.Did surprisingly well, didn't leave pine needles behind at all.It was obviously not a vacuum, just a surface sweeper, but it's also not 40 pounds with a long, annoying cord and fourteen attachments. Overall, surprisingly good. Carpet does not look freshly vacuumed, but sure looks tidy. Did manage to pick up a few stickers and a half a crayon, some dog fur and some random scraps of paper.Clearly, a sweeper though.

When using this in the hardwood front hallway, i noticed that the carpeted stairs had pine needles all over them.I unclipped the handle and ran the sweeper over the first 4-5 stairs before my toddler "helped".

NOW i am impressed. It's the right width (maybe just half an inch too wide) but does a very good job sweeping carpeted steps. no cords, no long handles, just unclip the long handle and run it with your hand.

Overall, day 1 is very good. But, I'll revisit this review in two weeks and update. I don't think it's anywhere near threatening for my Dyson Animal, but at minimum it seems that it might keep things tidier without a cord and with less fuss.And with a toddler, i absolutely need less fuss.

Negative: If you have pets (i have a dog and three cats), the waste receptacle can be hard to empty. The first time i tried it, i shook out half the dust container on the floor because the dog fur trapped everything, and then centripetal force kicked in at absolutely the wrong moment. The exit gap is pretty small, and does not accomodate pet fur well. I learned to shake a bit slower and reach in to grab big furballs. and then wash my hands. Pretty sure none of the designers owned a pet... EVER. But, on the same note, they must have pine needles, because that worked very well :)

Annoyance: when it's plugged in, it's showing a red LED. no, it never changes. Red means plugged in.No charge indicator. Very irritating, cheaply solved, and yet not quite there. Gives me a bit of pause - they've clearly outsourced design, are saving the one-one-hundredth-of-a-penny and given up on quality, so I'll just have to see what Dyson comes out with next...

(More customer reviews)Do NOT buy this if you think it will replace your vacuum.I have a 2 year old and a VERY good vacuum on hand that I use once a week (though I probably should vacuum twice a week).For all the messes that occur in between (probably 2-3x a day), I use the Shark to make my life easier.

I'm currently a stay at home mom with a toddler and she leaves crumbs EVERYWHERE.We live in a small apartment, so the dining room is a spit's throw from the living room and it's almost unavoidable to have toddlers (my kid, my kid's friends, my friends' kids...) carrying their muffins, snacks, crackers, pretzels around and about the living area.I got the Shark more because my daughter was terrified of loud sounds and my regular vacuum cleaner, but have found that the nice bonus is that it's so much easier to lug this one out 2-3 times a day to pick up crumbs right after snack time (and hence avoid having it ground into the rugs) than to pull out my heavy Bissell.

Pros:It's lightweight, very quiet, convenient, and effective for picking up visible crumbs if used correctly.
Cons:It doesn't do heavy-duty or deep cleaning; the price-tag can be steep; Shark sweepers are known to break down after a few months to a year.

My mom has an older version of the Shark sweeper, which is much more quiet than this one.She's a waitress and uses it to tidy up the floor under the tables in between customers.Obviously, she's subjecting it to pretty heavy use, and she's now on her third one.Her recommendations on making it last a long as possible:clean the sweeper thoroughly after a few uses (that includes pulling out accumulated hair in the brushes and washing the collection bin) and charge the battery according to directions (do not allow to sit for longer than 19 hours at a time charging, you will reduce battery life).

The Shark Vx3 is a little louder than hers.But I like the fact that it has two speed settings (supposedly for floor and carpet).The handle bends so that you can push it under furniture, which is a little helpful, but kinda awkward and (knowing that the Shark sweeper handles are notorious for breaking off) I prefer to not use it at all.The Shark Vx3 also has a little rotator brush on the side, which is supposed to pick up crumbs as you push it against the side of a wall, but I wish that they had thought to put a rotator brush on both sides.They claim also that you can push a button and dump out the collection cup without ever having to touch the dirt.This is true in theory, but in practice, the lid often catches or there is dirt stuck in the bin that you have to shake it out--so it's almost unavoidable to touch the bin or dirt.No big deal--just wash your hands afterwards.

The bottom line:don't expect to replace your vacuum.And here's the KEY to use the sweeper most effectively -- push it SLOWLY and repeatedly over the pile of crumbs that you intend to pick up.I found that if you tried to push the sweeper back and forth quickly like a regular vacuum, it didn't pick up anything, just pushed the dirt around.

(More customer reviews)The replacement battery makes the Swivel Sweeper more powerful than we ever remember it being originally.The key is to charge the new battery fully for no more than eight hours and then to NOT recharge it again until after it completely runs out of power.And then do not leave the recharger plugged in for more than eight hours.So we have had the new battery for over a month and only recharged it two or three times.
Before, we made the mistake of leaving the old battery plugged into the charger all the time.

I have now owned the product for six months.I have nothing to change in my review.I am surprised that people are having so many problems with this product.My unit still works fine; the battery holds a charge; the pole has not broken; the handle has not broken.Maybe my unit is not typical.However, you do need to have realistic expectations for this product.The Swivel Sweeper is not a new revolutionary cleaning apparatus worthy of a patent (as the info commercial implies).It is just an electric sweeper for quick clean ups.If you want the thorough results that a vacuum provides--use a vacuum.

I have owned my Swivel Sweeper for two weeks.If you are looking for something better than your dust pan, this is the product for you.If you are looking for something to replace your vacuum cleaner, you are going to be disappointed.The pros: light weight, high quality, cordless, rechargeable, easy to use, maneuverable.The cons: overpriced, can't ever replace a vacuum, time-consuming periodic cleaning.The product is just what I was looking for: a cordless, rechargeable, electric dust pan that I could keep in the kitchen next to the refrigerator and pull out twice a week and sweep the kitchen floor.I have a light colored tile floor and it shows every little particle of dirt.In addition, my cat spreads Friskies on the floor and the sweeper picks up those nicely.The Swivel Sweep is a fairly high quality product.All the parts look well designed, fairly durable (they are just plastic), and fit together well.

The Swivel Sweep is oversold on the info commercial (as to be expected).It will never take the place of a vacuum cleaner.It is not a vacuum cleaner.It creates no suction.It is simply a sweeper.I would summarize it as an electric dust pan.The product has four rotating brushes that sweep items into a small centralized dust pan with openings on all four sides.The Swivel Sweeper is much quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner; however, one would not use it in a room with a sleeping baby as advertised--it is not that quiet.It makes a tone with medium-high pitched whine.The picture on the box shows the product being used to sweep dirt from a carpet after a house plant has been toppled--forget it!That is not a good use of this product.Use a real vacuum cleaner for that job.This product is really only effective on hard surfaces.A dust pan is not what I would use on a carpet.Yes, you could pick up small items sitting on the surface of a carpet like paper clips, but realistically, to clean a carpet adequately, one should use a vacuum cleaner with strong suction and a powerful beater brush to separate the carpet strands.The Swivel Sweeper has neither of these.The Swivel Sweep is not comparable to a real vacuum cleaner.The Swivel Sweeper has problems picking up some very small items even on hard surfaces.Sometimes an item will shoot across the floor instead of going into the dust pan.I find myself going over the same area multiple times to pick up some items (but no big deal).

Because the product is fairly new, it is a bit overpriced.I think $29 would be more appropriate.I would expect to see it at Target in a year or two for $19.95.Emptying the dust pan is easy.Cleaning the sweeper is not.The Swivel Sweeper comes with a "cleaning tool" which is nothing more than a thread cutter/seam ripper (if you know what that is).Hair (human hair) gets wound around all four brushes and needs to be periodically cut and vacuumed out.The manual says "on occasion" this cleaning need to be done.The manual indicates the battery will last 45 minutes on one charge.That seems reasonable since I am still on the original charge and have used the sweeper about 10 times.

Overall, I am pleased with the product.
