(More customer reviews)This is not the product you think it is. The picture and schematic for this item are both WRONG. Hoover has changed the product but left the model number the same. The new revised unit is not the same old beloved vacuum to which all the reviews prior to 2010 are referring. This version is a cheap imitation of the former. This "revised" model features:

- NO Headlight
- NO Bag Indicator
- NO hose coupling dust cover
- CHEAPER plastic
- CHEAPER carpet brush
- CHEAPER hose
- SHODDIER construction
- INCORRECT user manual

It still has the same amount of suction but because of the cheaper brush it doesn't really get down into the carpet like the old one. It just glides on top over the carpet. The cheaper hose is a real problem, because if you ever suffer the misfortune of kinking the hose once you will never get it un-kinked again. The lack of headlight is not a big deal, but the picture shows it has one and some people may need this feature. The missing bag indicator means you have to keep stopping and checking the bag to see if it's full. The plastic parts are made from a cheaper flimsy plastic. This makes the unit lightweight but it also means not everything fits together properly, for instance several of the attachments are misshapen. The old unit used to have a dust cover so when you used the hose it would not spew dust into the room (because the brush keeps turning). The "revised" model has no dust cover so you better get ready for a face full of dirt if you pull the hose out over a dusty area. The general construction of the unit is sub-par compared to the old version. In fact, the user manual is still from the old version, meaning the assembly instructions are incorrect for the revised version. You will have to figure out for yourself where to route the power cord on the rear of the chassis.

The vacuum does still work, has strong suction, and works well on carpet if you put it on the lowest height and really dig into the carpet. But you can probably find something better for your money. And Amazon should update their product photos!

(More customer reviews)We have four vacuum cleaners, and it's not because we're neat freaks.It's exactly the opposite.We keep hoping for the one vacuum that will clean our house with the least effort.Each succession of vacuum cleaner gets smaller and smaller, especially after we discovered we can pay our 5-year old 50 cents to clean the carpet.Between this and the Eureka "The Boss Superlite", they're our favorites.Here are some of the real pluses of the system, followed by the negatives:

PROS:
Great suction, especially on fine dust
Very lightweight, our kid (5 years old) can operate it
Retractable handle makes it easy to carry around (we're short people)
Retractable handle makes it easy to store
Inexpensive

CONS:
The HEPA filter attracts dust very quickly and needs to be cleaned each time (is this a plus or a minus?) Anyhow, it's a messy job.
The front face could be a fraction smaller to get under furniture better

Dryer Vent Vacuum Cleaner Attachment Review

(More customer reviews)This product is not terrible, but I am not sure if it is the best dryer vent cleaning system out there. I was reluctant to get a vent "brush" because I couldn't imagine how a long-handle brush could get all the way down the vent and pick up excess lint...I was pretty sure that a brush would miss areas. The most attractive feature about this product is that you can attach it to your vacuum hose and literally suck out all the lint and other dirt/dust/crumbs/hair/tissue/etc. that could not be caught in the lint trap. My dryer's lint trap is located on the top of my dryer...it is a small flip open top and you basically pull out the long, rectangular lint trap.

The product is basically as shown in the photo...although I imagine it is easier to clean a dryer like the one depicted in the photo. One third of the attachment is a hard plastic tube that fits over your vacuum hose attachment, and the rest is a soft plastic (bendable) hose that actually does reach all the way down my dryer's lint vent. I have also found that this vent vac hose can be used to vacuum other areas of the house that the traditional vacuum hose attachment cannot get to. Examples: under the refrigerator and other various appliances, a/c vents, in small crevasses or under furniture pieces that are close to the ground. The concept of this tool is great, but there is one problem.

When shipped by the distributor (item does not come from Amazon), they packaged it so badly that by the time I opened it up, the hose was very bent...to the point where it created two large creases on the soft plastic hose. I left it out in the sun for a while to soften up so I could re-shape it, but the creases still remained. While this isn't a huge problem, when using the vent vac hose, it has a tendency to close itself off at these creases...thus, airflow is stopped. I had to pull it out of the vent several times to re-shape it but it would continue to do so. After a while, I decided to put my hand down the dryer vent as far as possible to hold the plastic hose at the point where it would pinch itself off...and that did seem to help. It was pretty annoying, however.

All in all, a great concept and I suppose that if it is packaged/shipped with more care, the problem with the hose closing itself off would not happen. The price is right, however, and I was still able to get plenty of lint out that probably had been stuck in the dryer vent for years...so it did do the job, it was just a trying process at times.

(More customer reviews)I hate cleaning house, or in my case, apartment! There are so many wonderful, worthwhile things I could be doing with my time rather than dusting, sweeping and mopping. Sleeping-in on weekends is high on that list of activities. However, I cannot abide living in filth. Sigh. So, clean I must. And then a dear friend of mine, a compulsive cleaner, turned me on to Swiffer products. After receiving a firsthand demonstration from my enthusiastic pal, I purchased the "Swiffer Sweeper Complete Pack," which includes 2 Dry Sweeping Cloths & 2 Wet Mopping Cloths. I also bought additional refill packages of the disposable cloths.

Wake up fellow humans!! This is a fabulous product!! The Swiffer Sweeper takes the yuck, or most of it, out of cleaning...well, at least the daily floor sweeping/washing part. I have two cats, so eliminating their hair more easily is a major plus! This amazing little apparatus, is designed to pick up dust, invisible particles and pet hairs, as well as spills in no time flat!

The starter package comes with a light, durable metal pole with attached sweeper cloth holder which has a flexible swivel head to get into hard-to-reach places. Four disposable Swiffer cloths are included, two for dry sweeping, and two for wet mopping. Wet disposable mopping cloths are presoaked with an advanced cleaning solution that dissolves stains and dries quickly without streaks. And no, these wet cloths are not dangerous for house pets. Just allow surface to dry before letting your pet walk on it.

I would recommend buying a package of refills along with the starter pack, since once you use a cloth you throw it out along with whatever it picks up. To use, simply wrap the cloth, wet or dry, around the sweeper head and push edges into grippers. Dry cloths are extra-thick with unique, V-shaped ridges that pick up more dirt, etc., than traditional methods of cleaning. The Swiffer fibers create an electrostatic charge, that when wiped across a surface, attracts dust/dirt, hair, and other gunk. Then the trademark "Lift and Lock" pockets hold the dirt to stop it from returning to your clean floor or surface.Each Swiffer wet disposable cloth is presoaked with cleaning solution and will clean approximately 100 square feet. It is safe for finished wood, linoleum, tile and ceramic floors. Do not use on unfinished, oiled or waxed wooden boards, or non-sealed tiles, however.

Some folks complain that the refills are expensive and I agree, to some extent. Although for me, they're worth every single penny because after I sweep/mop, the dirt and cloth go directly into the trash and out my door - Do Not Pass Go; Do Not Collect $200! Weigh your priorities. I'd rather brown bag it to work and cut my cleaning time in half. Check it out. You won't hear me cheering often about anything that has to do with cleaning. The Swiffer Sweeper is worth 5 cheers!!

The simple instructions on the packaging are clear enough that I was able to get the new band on right away. And since my last band was the factory original, I expect the new band to last another 2-3 years, and then I have an extra band in storage!
