Weed Eater WEB160 7.5 amp 160 mph Electric Blower Review

Weed Eater WEB160 7.5 amp 160 mph Electric Blower

I wanted to get rid of my Stihl gas-powered blower (took too much maintenance), and thought this might do the trick. Boy, it sure does! I plugged in a 100-foot heavy-duty extension cord (it comes without a cord, which is great--you plug an extension cord directly into the back) and turned it on and was surprised by its power. A very strong stream of air blasted the oak leaves hither and yon. It is light, so you won't get tired lugging it around, and it doesn't deafen you or burn you with exhaust gasses and doesn't pour out vile blue oily smoke like a gas blower. Also you don't have to drain the fuel and run the carburetor dry for storage. Well worth the money.

Makita BUB182Z 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Blower - Bare-tool Review

Makita BUB182Z 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Blower - Bare-tool
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This blower is an excellent addition to Makita's LXT lineup of tools.Like all of the LXT tools, the blower is quite powerful, very rugged, lightweight and well thought out.Its small size and very light weight make it all the more useful and portable. It performs the shop duties of an air blow gun without the need of a compressor and hoses. The variable speed function is invaluable from heavy volume in cleaning out the buildup of dust and chips in tablesaws and planers, to the light "dusting off" needed on shelving and drawers (without blowing away the contents). It is equally as impressive on a job site as in the shop. The ability to clean off all the dust on your clothing from working around heavy sawdust, drywall dust etc. - this alone makes the blower a must have.

It would be hard to justify the purchase of this if it were to be the only LXT tool one were buying, given the fact that a charger and battery together will run $100+.But for someone with other LXT tools, already having a charger and batteries, this is definitely a worthwhile investment. The nozzle of the blower (the long black tube) is made of heavy rubber and detaches with a simple twist. This flexible nozzle can readily be flexed (bent) to point the blower into hard to reach areas. The simple "twist to remove" breaks the blower down to ultimate portability. It would almost fit in a toolbox!LXT batteries give it plenty of power and runtime;much more than one would anticipate from a battery powered device.

As far as the vacuum functionality, the nozzle is simply removed from the blower port and twisted onto the air intake port. Then a collection bag (not supplied with blower) is attached to the output to collect the vacuumed debris. However, I found this configuration to be too awkward to be really useful.I did purchase a bag, approx. $16, from a tool supply house, but am not impressed with transformingthis into a vacuum. It would do in a pinch, but certainly not something I could make a habit of.The cloth bag is identical to one found on a Makita belt sander, plate joiner or similar device. If you want one, do an internet search for Makita #122321-1;that is the part number of the dust collection bag. Better yet, Makita has just introduced a new 18v LXT vacuum, quite similar to a dustbuster;the Makita BCL180ZW.I don't have one yet, but am ordering one.It should prove to be another "must have" addition to the LXT tool bag.

For heavy yard usage and constant leaf blowing, a larger electric or gas blower would be more appropriate. But for the other 90% of the time where a portable blower would fit the bill, this Makita is as handy as a shirt pocket.

Black & Decker CS100 12-Volt Cordless Electric Broom Hard Surface Sweeper Review

Black & Decker CS100 12-Volt Cordless Electric Broom Hard Surface Sweeper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This unit was very easy to set up.Basically, you slide on the nozzle. Then you attach the unit to the charging base. And you plug the charger into the wall. That's it for setup!

Using the unit is also very easy. There is a single switch on top that you flip and away you go.Since the unit is completely battery operated, there are no cords or gasoline issues to worry about. The whole tool is idiot-proof.

However, with the battery on a full charge, you only have about 15 minutes of full power. After that time, the unit looses charge quickly until it only puts out a small puff of air.By then you're waving the thing around so much you might as well get a broom to do some actual work.

I give this item 5 stars for ease of use, but only 1 star for doing what it's actually intended for, which is blowing.Considering I don't normally buy blowers for any other use, I give it 2 stars overall.

Toro 51585 Power Sweep 7 amp 2-Speed Electric Blower Review

Toro 51585 Power Sweep 7 amp 2-Speed Electric Blower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We recently acquired an property with a lot of leafy trees and this is my first blower. When the shipment arrived, I thought that Amazon shipped the wrong item because it came in a tiny box. Snap the tube on, connect the cord and it's ready to use.

The power switch is somewhat touchy. When trying to select low speed, it is easy to accidentally bump it into high speed. I accidentally blasted away a bunch of bark and made a crater. Oops. During low speed use, it's also easy to accidentally bump the power switch to off.

The power receptacle is mounted on a short cable tail on the back end. I have several other lawn tools that have the receptacle integrated into the shell with a hook to retain the cord and I prefer that arrangement. When you reach the end of the extension cord, it disconnects easily and cuts power. There's also no strain relief so I think that eventually I will be repairing this short section of cord.

Although it looks and feels like a toy, it seems to work well on flat surfaces and bark, but struggles a little with leaves in wet grass. It just takes longer but still gets it done. I also used it to clear the gutters of leaves and it worked well. I removed the tube making it even smaller and lighter. There were a few times when the thrust nearly knocked me off the ladder.

Noise level is excellent, especially on low. Think giant hairdryer. It is much lighter, quieter and not smelly compared to the big gas blowers.

I was originally considering the Toro Ultra, but I was unsure how much vacuuming and mulching I would do and wanted something lighter, less expensive, and less cumbersome.

Factory-Reconditioned Black & Decker NS118R 18V Cordless Broom Hard Surface Sweeper Review

Factory-Reconditioned Black & Decker NS118R 18V Cordless Broom Hard Surface Sweeper
Average Reviews:

I found this unit to be great for light duty and especially blowing out leaves and grass that get blown into my garage. I'm in a wooded area and there are lots of small twigs on my driveway that can be blown off with this blower but I do have to get much closer and it takes longer than my gas blower. The battery is real good for about the first 10 minutes and then it starts to drop noticeably.I have several batteries so I don't have to be too concerned about running out of power. It is convenient because of its light weight and cordless feature.

WORX TriVac WG500 12 amp All-in-One Electric Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum Review

WORX TriVac WG500 12 amp All-in-One Electric Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this product is a cool idea...a leaf blower that turns vacuum w/the flip of a switch.Problem is, it doesn't do it nearly as well as it could or should.First, the impeller is plastic. One errant rock or hard piece of bark sucked up in the vacuum, and expect your blades to chip.Mine chipped on the firstuse.Next, the bag is problematic. It's easy to click into place, but very difficult to dislodge.Mine just would not budge at all.No amount of force, or coaxing or balance could get the bag off.I have read other people have had the same problem. Finally, the design. The end of the unit is angled up.Which seems like a good idea until you use it.Because the motor is the heaviest feature, the unit naturally wants to tip backward in your hand--the opposite direction of the angle on the nozzle. It just means your hand/forearm gets tired a lot quicker.the power of the blower/vac is pretty decent. But that's about all I can say for this gadget. For the money, I expected better.A lot better.I sent this back, and bought a Toro Ultra for $20 less.It doesn't have that "one touch" toggling between blower and vac, but it does have a metal impeller, is simple to assemble and use, weighs less, mulches great, has variable speed and doesn't have nearly the "hang ups" that this unit has.

Product Description:
The WORX TriVac All-in-One Compact Blower/Mulcher/Vac has the versatility to change jobs with just the flip of a switch. Because there are no tubes to switch between tasks, you can blow away debris at 210 mph, then easily change to vacuuming dry leaves at up to 14 gallons per minute in seconds. The angled nose and comfortable handle make operation of the TriVac easy enough for any user. And with its powerful 12 amp motor, this tool makes an efficient, environmentally friendly alternative to gasoline-powered tools.

The angled nose makes it easy to clear low areas and to reach under decks and furniture. View larger.Comfortable Design Makes For Light Work
ErgoSum Design Technology allows you to hold the TriVac with a natural, comfortable grip, and its light weight of just 8.4 pounds and wrap-around soft grip mean you can operate it with one arm. The compact size also makes it easy to store, and there are no extra tubes to lug around when taking care of your grounds.
Environmentally Friendly, Efficient Electric Motor
Because it runs on a 12 Amp electric motor, the TriVac makes a much more environmentally friendly choice than its gasoline-powered counterparts. The electric motor runs at about 70 decibels, significantly reducing noise pollution, and it has none of the emissions associated with gas-powered engines. The electric power still packs a punch: when used as a blower, the TriVac's air speed of 210 mph is strong enough to clear away wet leaves and other heavy debris. The adjustable air regulator allows you to reduce air flow when working around delicate plants and preventing dust ups. Flip the switch to vacuum mode, and turn mounds of dry leaves into mulch in minutes, perfect for compost piles or ground cover. The TriVac's 10 to 1 mulch ratio makes easy work of large jobs.
Innovative, Durable Design
The TriVac's innovative angled tube makes it easy to clear debris under cars, furniture, and equipment in your yard or garage. The collector bag empties quickly thanks to a quick-connect coupler, and it's constructed of breathable nylon fabric to keep the air flowing freely. Cleaning the TriVac is simple; just push a button to open the impeller housing to free any clogs. Its sturdy ABS plastic construction means you can put the TriVac through the rigors of everyday use for many seasons to come.
The WORX TriVac All-in-One Compact Blower/Mulcher/Vac is covered by a full two-year warranty.
