Spell check, Amazon...good thing I knew what I was looking to buy! Great for my dorm room, which has flat indoor/outdoor carpet. Great for stairs and under furniture. I needed a lightweight compact vac with a brush roll--no vacuum I've ever owned has picked up on carpet without a brush. Converts to a hand vac easily, gets that tiny spiderweb on the ceiling with no problem.

Shop-Vac Shop and Lawn Sweeper Review

Shop-Vac Shop and Lawn Sweeper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
1. Sucks up leaves and deposits them in a bag.
2. Easy to put together.
3. It's so small that the swath it cuts will make your neighbors laugh, which is said to add to good health.
4. They hit the under-200 dollar market sweet-spot.

Cons:
1. Doesn't suck up anything else.
2. Nozzle is small enough to make you wonder if you should bother getting it out of the garage or just get the rake and save your back and the electric bill.
3. Motor is powerful enough to suck up leaves, but not powerful enough to suck up more than a few at a time. If several get stuck in the nozzle you'll spend more time picking them out and hand-feeding them back into the unit than you would had you just put them in the trash by hand.

God bless them for trying, but this item is just a joke. It's better to spend 160 bux on a 20 gallon shop vac and just suck your leaves up with it instead of wasting your time and money on this offering.

Euro-Pro Shark Vacuum Battery Pack, XBP610 Review

Euro-Pro Shark Vacuum Battery Pack, XBP610
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Don't throw away your Shark, if like many, your battery gives out. This replacement pack, properly charged when you receive it, should make your Shark sweeper run like new. It surely did, for mine, which had heavy and daily use for over a year, until I noticed the original battery pack would not hold a charge, likely due to "memory."

This unit is SO EASY to install, and takes only seconds. I would suspect that in many cases, users who are unhappy with the Shark sweepers, and "apparent" battery problems, need a replacement like this, in additionto making sure that the battery is DISCHARGED before putting the sweeper back on the charging unit. This, alone will extend battery life, considerably.

Bissell Versus Cordless Bare-Floor Vacuum, 21R9 Review

Bissell Versus Cordless Bare-Floor Vacuum, 21R9
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a huge fan of Bissell products and everything that I have ever bought from the company has been a roaring success in our house. We have the Bissell Quick Steamer and the Bissell Steam Mop. Both of these little vacuums get a workout in our house, but I have yet to find a cordless vacuum that I am happy with. We bought a Shark which I absolutely loved until it burned out two years later. The next investment was our Dirt Devil Vibe. The suction was great for about a month and then it just stopped picking up. Since then I have been making do with a good old-fashioned broom and pan, but I always keep my eyes peeled for a cordless vacuum that works.

Bissell sent over their new Bissell Versus Cordless Bare Floor Vacuum and I couldn't wait to open it up. As with all cordless vacuums it requires a good charging before it will work so I had to wait until the next day to use it. Upon it charging, I was ready to roll and I had two willing and messy children to help me break it in. After a morning breakfast of cornflakes (for Ethan) and Cheerios (for Emily), we had the perfect scenario for testing out this vacuum.

The first thing you will notice about this vacuum is that it is an unusual shape. The design might not make sense at first, but when you are trying to get in those crevices around your furniture, it makes complete sense. It is a V-shape design that allows you to get right against your kitchen table and chairs without having to manuever around it. It does require a little manuevering though when you are trying to get around the outer perimeters of your room, but you just line it up against the wall and push around that way.

This vacuum has great suction and within minutes, I could see that it had picked up every last little cornflake bit and Cheerio.Again, the design factor comes into play on this model because the V-shaped design helps so that you aren't scooting stuff around (as I had experienced with other cordless models) and actually suctions it into the center.

While intended for bare floors, you could also use this vacuum on low pile carpeting. The vacuum is brushless so you aren't having to deal with trapped hairs and threads underneath. Best of all, it is bagless and has any easy to release cup where you can dump out what you catch...like Cheerios or cornflakes!

I would highly recommend this vacuum and can't wait to put it to the Clark test and see if it can survive a few years of hard work in our house.

Here are a few easy tips for picking a cordless vacuum that will be a good fit for your family:

1. You will be much happier with whatever you are purchasing if you can test drive it. Borrow one from a friend or just take them through a spin in the aisle. It would be ideal if you could use it, but if you can't just try pushing it around to see if it glides easily.

2. Pick a store that has a good return policy. I knew that Target is pretty good about returns, so I picked that store. In the case of the Shark, I read a story of one lady who had went through three in a month so it is good that the return policy would allow her to do that.

3. Online stores are great and might have more affordable pricing on these, but the pure and simple fact is, if it is defective or you just plain hate it, you have to ship that back. Who wants to be running a sweeper over to the post office? Physical stores are better in this case.

4. Sometimes extras (which cost extra) aren't worth it. Stick to the basic functions and look for ones that offer the best sweeper for your money.

5. Just like all things, the highest price does not make it the best. Some of the higher priced models had a lot less power than the one I purchased.

Product Description:
Lightweight and easy to use, this cordless stick vac works great for keeping low-pile area rugs and all bare-floor surfaces clean throughout the house. Its unique V-shaped base directs large debris into the center suction path while picking up fine particles along the arms. The angle of the arms increase air flow, allowing for greater suction at the end points of the base, which means the unit captures debris that normally gets left behind in corners and other hard-to-reach areas. In addition, it provides a comfortable handle, a bagless dirt container, a low-profile base for access under furniture, and a foot-activated power switch. The rechargeable bare-floor vacuum cleaner delivers up to 20 minutes of cleaning power per charge and measures 8-4/5 by 10-1/2 by 43-1/2 inches.

Eureka 166DX Boss Lightweight Stick Vacuum Review

Eureka 166DX Boss Lightweight Stick Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Here's my situation. I have a cat box in my bathroom and I really didn't like sweeping the kitty litter up every day - the broom would kick up dust and I would invariably miss a bit of kitty litter.

I needed something small, light that I could drag out and buzz around the bathroom (hard surface) with. This fits the bill perfectly. It's not exactly quiet, but not too bad either.

I don't like the rechargeable stick vacs because my closet doesn't have a power outlet and I really don't want to leave it out and look at the thing. In addition, corded stick vacs tend to be more powerful and don't run down, but you do have to put up with a cord.

This stick vac is basically a dustbuster with a telescopic handle and a detachable (bare) floor nozzle. It is not going to compete with a regular vacuum, but for light cleanup (e.g. kitty litter) it works just fine. I also use it on the low-pile carpeting just outside the bathroom door to pick up any stray kitty litter and it gets most of it. I don't think you'd want to use it on thicker pile carpeting or for large areas especially considering the floor nozzle has no brush roller - it really is designed for hard floors.

It does what I need -- no more kicking up dust and no more kitty litter in the bathroom (I use it every day). I am happy with my purchase.

HAAN SV-60 Steam Vacuum Review

HAAN SV-60 Steam Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased two of these as XMas gifts. My son called me to ask what he was doing wrong, it was very hard to push around and didn't clean very well.I went went over his house to try it myself.Well, what a piece of junk.In vacuum mode, it has only a little suction, which also sticks to the pad.It is hard to push because the pads are so thick that the wheels don't move on the floor. There are only 4 steam jets under and I don't think they let enough steamgo through the heavy cleaning pad.Now I am not an engineer but after cleaning a big bathroom and part of the kitchen, the floor was sticky and the pad only had alittle dirt on it.The instructions tell you to lower the handle to make it easier to push,(that should tell you something)

I have a haan steam mop that uses a different pad and it works great..Yes we have to sweep or vacuum the floor first.I am not able to get the same original pads that came with my Haan steam mop so I am not sure if I will have to replace the mop when the original pads wear out. Might have to try these new pads.

I sent both of the Haan SV-60 machines back for refund.Don't work as advertised.

Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the DC 24 to replace a small vacuum and was my first Dyson purchase (though I have used them regularly in the past). I would not recommend this vacuum to replace a dedicated large upright.Dyson uses "airwatts" to specify the power of the vacuums and the DC 24 has 115 airwatts vs. 220 airwatts for the DC 25 and DC 15. Not knowing how many airwatts other vacuums use, I can only guess similar comparisons to other brands.
=================
What to Like
=================
The DC 24 vacuum is lightweight 11.5lbs (DC25 16.1lbs and DC15 19.95lbs) and can go up and down stairs without problems (3 story condo). In fact, instead of using the hose attachment for the stairs I prefer to use the vacuum itself. It has a nicely placed handle in the front for this function (like a weed trimmer). You have to hold it out away from your body, as the brushes don't spin if the unit is placed upright.

Despite being lightweight and lower power, it has consistent suction and still get's a lot of dirt and dog hair out of the carpet.

The "Ball" allows the vacuum to access small, hard to reach areas without using the attachment. It is similar to using a swivel head on a mop.It handles my hardwood floors well, and now has replaced my sweeper.

The no-mess canister, easy to dump out with just a push of a button.

The washable hepa filter. This is one reason I do not have a problem with paying more for a Dyson.Effective heppa filtration requires regular replacement and that adds up in extra dollars. The dyson solves that with an easy clean filter.

5 year warranty. You will probably experience a disconcerting feeling when it's out of the box and it seems like flimsy construction.I usually destroy vacuums and so far this vacuum has held up well.I think the flimsy feeling comes from it's flexibility, the adjustment points and the ball.Trust me, I have dropped it a few times down a flight of stairs on the hardwood and it still looks and works as good a new.

Compact storage... that goes hand in hand with light weight, but it also telescopes down in height to fit under shelves for storage.

Coolest Dyson feature for me is the no-tool brushbar access/removal. Makes it very easy to remove obstructions from the brushbar without a tool set.
=================
What not to Like
=================
The attachment is difficult to convert, this is not unique to this Dyson model. Some cleaver engineer came up with a way to make this attachment compact and self contained, but impossible to convert the first 10-15 times you use it. Dyson does have more expensive models that have easier to use attachments. After using their products for awhile, I have become a Dyson attachment Jedi Master.

The hose for the attachments is short. It can't reach my 10' ceilings without lifting the base up off the floor.I recommend the Dyson's flexible attachment for dust and/or cobwebs.
=================
Other Notes
=================
The vacuum has trouble with large items (clumps of dog toy stuffing) that big vacuums normally don't hiccup on.It either doesn't have the brush head height or the plumbing for large items. It's not really a negative for me, as I learned early on to pick up big items that might destroy a perfectly working vacuum motor. I didn't have the same problem with using only the attachment.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Dyson DC24 Ball All-Floors Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Product Description:
Equipped with Dyson Ball technology, this upright vacuum cleaner sits on a ball for easy twisting and turning around furniture and obstacles--no more missed angles or tiresome back-and-forth vacuuming. The ball also encapsulates the machine's 6-1/2 amp motor, creating a low center of gravity for even easier maneuverability. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to separate dirt from the air by centrifugal force, which ensures efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction. Dyson proves no loss of suction using the IEC 60312 Cl 2.9 test standard. Effective for use on all floor types, the unit's motorized brushbar can be turned on to remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, or turned off to protect delicate rugs and floors. It also supplies a reversible wand for extended reach when cleaning stairs, drapes, upholstery, and more.
For cleaner expelled air, the unit comes with a washable lifetime HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria. In fact, the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The unit's hygienic 1/5-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--just press the button and dust empties from the bottom; the clear polycarbonate bin also allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it needs to be emptied. Other highlights include fingertip controls, a constant suction power of 115 air watts, a 20-foot cord, a maximum reach of 28-5/7 feet, and a combination accessory tool (nozzle converts to a brush tool for dusting). Even more, its handle collapses for storage in a closet. Weighing just 11-2/3 pounds, the ultra-lightweight and compact vacuum cleaner measures 13-2/3 by 11 by 43-2/7 inches and carries a five-year parts-and-labor warranty.

Dirt Devil M083424 Accucharge Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dirt Devil M083424 Accucharge Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

This is a great cordless stick vac.

I use it almost daily to pick up kitty kibble crumbs, cat litter, hair form 4 cats, food bits in the kitchen, dirt and so on. It sure beats sweeping almost 1000+ square feet of tile every day. It also works great for quick cleaning area rugs (with short pile).

I have been getting about 20 minutes of charge off of it, but most of the time it doesn't take me that long to do my hard floors.

The dirt cup and filter need to be cleaned just about every day . I just pop the filter out, dump in the trash, tap the dust out of the filter, reassemble and it's ready to go again.

It is definitely NOT a replacement for a real vacuum cleaner, but it works fabulously for what it is.

It's kind of big for a cat, but it works really well. The volume is adjustable and the curry style gets the hairs loose. The suction is gentle enough to not get stuck down and suck their skin but strong enough to get the hair. I use it on a Oreck cannister hand vacuum. I like this brush and so do my cats.

Euro-Pro UV610SH Shark Cordless Sweeper Review

Euro-Pro UV610SH Shark Cordless Sweeper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Forget the negative reviews if you have hardwood floors...this thing works great! My entire house is hardwood floors and I've tried several upright vacuums, and they ALL shoot stuff out of the back. The Shark never shoots anything out...and 99.9% of the time it picks everything up: from rice, coffee, dust-bunnies, crumbs, coins, potato chips...anything that other expensive vacuums I've tried can't. It's convenient to use, lightweight, it stays charged (which btw, when calibrating the battery, they suggest you charge/drain the battery twice. I've drained it once so far, and it ran for over 45 minutes). The swivel handle is great, and maneuvers like a steering wheel.
I even use this thing on the back porch to pick up leaves, berries, and stuff I don't feel like getting out the broom & dustpan for.
I don't think this machine is designed for heavy duty work, or not sure how it would perform on deep-pile carpet, but for my hardwood situation it's perfect!
Also, the little wheel for baseboards really works! It throws stuff right in front of the beeterbar to be consumed.

Evolution Robotics Mint Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner, 4200 Review

Evolution Robotics Mint Automatic Hard Floor Cleaner, 4200
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I must say, I'm impressed with the mapping system on this little guy. I have a very large (20'X20') open living room/kitchen area giving plenty of obstacles to confuse it. There's a staircase (which it deftly avoids), an island, a kitchen table with chairs, a couch and a number of tables for it to go under, an area rug and a piece of curved beveled glass on the floor that serves as a stand for a fireplace (which it surprisingly does not ride up on). Also, the room is overall "U" shaped with several entryways. This is the only robotic cleaner that has been able to figure this room out in its entirety. Other things to note is the room has a large fan and high, sloped ceilings and it can still find it's way.

My Roomba did terribly. It would get stuck in one section, the Neato XV was OK but would miss some parts. This thing does a great job of freshening up the floor and getting at just about everything due to it's small size!

One thing I did not know is the Mint comes with wet and dry reusable cloths for cleaning. They are great! It does pick up a lot of stuff, even if your floors look clean it's going to find something!

Wet pads are very good and stay damp for a longer amount time than I would have imagined. The floor is drier behind the mint than if I were mopping the floor myself!

I have found some things that confuse it. It doesn't like heater vents too much, especially larger ones (like intake vents) because it thinks it is falling off of a ledge. It will eventually figure it out though. It will get stuck on vertical blinds, so you might want to block them with something and it might get stuck if it drives into an area that is very tight and it decides it can't back out. After a few runs of finding what confuses it, it pretty easy to mint-proof a room.

Noise levels are good. It drives about very quietly. It is a bumper-bot though. Which is where most of the noise comes from. Though every bump really matters as it is mapping the room.

Speed is good. Not the fastest but very efficient. It really gets at every spot in a methodical fashion. I was impressed with the final "edging" step. Once it cleans the room it will clean the edge. Not just the outside edge, but also the "inside" edges such as area rugs, tables, islands and so on.

What is the practicality of this? I wouldn't have thought much for a Swiffer bot but something about the speed and thoroughness of it's cleaning really brings out much more grime than I would get myself. I notice it gets much more cat fur than I would because it doesn't blow it out of the way before getting to it.

The personality of the bot is OK. It's more like a clinical, efficient nurse doing it's job. It isn't quite as chipper as other cleaning bots but it gets the job done.

Battery life is good. Not the fastest at charging but a long enough life to get through more than a couple rooms per charge.

Can these guys get on making a vacuum bot now?

Animal Mini Tabletop Vacuum - Pig Review

Animal Mini Tabletop Vacuum - Pig
Average Reviews:

I bought this for a Christmas present for my sister. Her kitchen is decorated in a pig motif. Both of us are great cooks and spend most of our time in the kitchen. We are not spring chickens, and must sit to do some kitchen preparations at our dining tables. We don't like using a wet dishrag on our wood table but didn't have anything else to clean up our little messes that fall from the bowl or board. With the vacuum we can quickly clean up a small mess without using water.I opened and inspected the pig vacuum before I wrapped it for Christmas. It is powerful enough and big enough to actually clean, but small enough to sit on the table or kitchen counter for decorative but quick use.I know she'll love it, and she almost didn't get it.I thought about keeping it for myself.

Haan HD-50 Duo Steam Sweeper & Floor Sanitizer Review

I'll admit I'm a person who dislikes housework with a passion--but I'm a stickler for a clean and sanitary environment. Since the kitchen and the bathrooms are the most heavily traveled and visited, I was especially drawn to the Haan Duo Steam Sweeper and Sanitizer, beacause it was able to tackle a few tasks at the same time.Originally when I had to mop the floor, I'd sweep the area, fill two buckets:one with hot water and Mr. Clean--and the other bucket with clear, cold rinse water. And then the process of trying to clean the floor would begin...

After the floor finally dried, there was always a slight disinfectant residue that felt tacky whenever I'd walk across what I thought was a clean floor.

When I opened my Haan-Duo, the first place I thought I'd try the machine was the prep area in my kitchen.Between the grease and food stains, footprints, scuff marks, and crumbs, I thought if something as simple as water/steam could clean and sanitize that
mess--then it was worth every penny.

The first pass in the prep area was absolutely amazing! Not only did the Haan-Duo pick up the things I had been able to see, but it went deeper into the floor to clean things I couldn't see.My flooring is rather old, but after one cleaning, the luster I thought was gone came right back to life.Grey tiles I thought were part of the color pattern on the floor were dazzlingly white. For the first time, in a long time, the floor looked fantastic!

I then completed the bathrooms. The grout in between the tiles was perfectly clean.I tried it on my hard wood floors--and the same consistent results made the floor look like new in minutes!

The Haan-Duo is light, compact, and it delivers every time I've used the product. My only critique of the system is that it is difficult to really get in and around the back end of the toilet area because of its width. If there were an attachment, perhaps shaped like a triangle, it would get to the hard to reach spaces without any trouble. If indeed, Haan makes a hand-held model with the varying heads, I'd purchase it in a heartbeat.

The velcro pads pick up every bit of floor residue, and then when I'm finished cleaning, I wash the pads out with gentle soap, and put them in the sun to dry.

The Haan-Duo us very eco-friendly.No more do I have to worry about allergic reactions from cleaning products. The surfaces are sanitized in a natural way--without chemicals.

It's really made my workload so much easier!
