Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle, S2220 Review

Hoover Flair Bagless Upright Stick Vacuum with Power Nozzle, S2220

This is a fantastic little vac.It isn't as loud as my last stick vac and it doesn't scratch my wood floors. The first day I bought it I really put it through the paces.I was impressed with how well it cleans floors, carpets and rugs with fringe.I love the fact that you can turn off the roller to do the fringed rugs and floors. It picked up popcorn and screws easily.Sand and gravel from the kids shoes, no problem. After a rain, the floor got a little muddy from all the kids going in and out so I just turned on the brush and VOILA, the dried mud went right up.
It really does stand on it's own, even on a soft cushy carpet.
The only changes left to make is to lengthen the cord a bit and put a small pull-out nozzle high up on the side so I can use it for practically everything, such as dusting windowsills.I won't let my wish list ruin the review though.5 stars for the best little vac I've had yet.

BISSELL? Steam & Sweep Hard Floor Cleaner Review

BISSELL? Steam & Sweep Hard Floor Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been researching mops, steam mops, wood floor sweepers, etc. for about two months.I have read every pro and con of pretty much everything out there.I have a ton of wood floor and tile in my house and I absolutely cannot stand to clean it.I hate sweeping the wood floor, I hate the debris that flies in the air, I hate bending over with the dust pan, I hate the sticky feeling my swiffer leaves behind, I just overall have hated my floors for 5 years because they never ever feel clean.I had a friend sing the praises of the Shark steam mop the other day, so I finally decided to break down and buy SOMETHING.I didn't even care if it did an excellent job, I just wanted something. But- my one qualification was that it be a combo steamer and sweeper. I just had to solve the sweeping issue at the same time.Which leaves you with pretty much the Bissell or the Shark.I looked at the Shark at Wal-mart and the bottom of it made me laugh. The vacuum hole is like 3 inches wide and has no brush or anything. I was not impressed with that.So I went to Target and picked up the Bissell. And now I want to marry it and become Mrs. Bissell because it is so fantastic.A few things about this machine you might want to know:It has an awesome, LONG strong cord.It has a really cool "dyson-like" ball joint that makes it super easy to manuever. The steam works great, the water tank looks tiny, but it lasts a really long time, it comes with two pads that are thick and strong, it lays completely flat when going under furniture, it fits under the counters in the kitchen, it doesn't leave very muchwater on the floor (I read other complaints of other manchines that leave a ton of water), it dries really fast, it heats up and is ready in 15 seconds or less, it has a clear compartment on top so you can see what debris it is picking up.One caveat- the suction is not super strong, but then again I like my vacuums to sound like a jet engine and suck my skin off if they had the chance, so maybe I am picky. But the brush feature does pick up a lot of stuff. And having the cleaning pad right behind it helps to trap stuff too.So for instance it picked up small leaves, not a band-aid wrapper. It picked up cracker crumbs and bugs, but not a tag to a shirt. The machine is meant to be used with the vacuum and the steamer going simultaneously to save time, however, I like to use just the vacuum and dry cloth to dust mop/vacuum my floors and then activate the steam and do it seperately. But I did use it together and it did okay.Another nice feature is that it is a light and easy machine so you really enjoy using it and don't feel like you are lugging out a Volkswagen to do your chores.I have had it two days and I have been using the vacuum constantly.I love that thing! And once you do an initial clean- the follow-up cleanings are a snap!I finally feel like my floors are clean. It has changed my whole feeling about my house. As far as anything I don't like, you do have to squeeze a trigger for when you want steam and if you are steaming your whole floor then your finger hurts by the end and that is a little annoying. It does also take some upmh! to push it when you are steam cleaning at first.I am sure it gets easier as the floor is cleaner :)Anyway, this machine is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time.I highly recommend it!

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum, Corded, 33A1 Review

Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Handheld Vacuum, Corded, 33A1
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This little sucker is unbelievable. The power is fantastic, the torque from the motor actually makes the vacuum jump in your hand when you flip theon switch.

I have a couch in my basement that is the favorite place for my two cats to sleep. The couch had so much hair on it that the couch looked grey instead of purple. I spent 5 minutes with the pet hair eraser and the couch was literally hair free. The rubber attachment on the front works way better than motorized brushes that quickly clog with hair.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it is a little loud, but I guess with power comes a little extra noise.I love this little vac, why pay all that money for a Dyson when this little guy works great!

Edit: The one and only thing I don't like about the vac is the way the air coming out of the unit sometimes blows the hair into the air if you're not careful how you position the machine while you use it.Although considering how much air this little baby moves and the small size of the unit I'm not sure what could be done to avoid this.

Having had this unit now for just over two years I still say its an amazing machine and I use it quite often. Its still going strong, no problems.

We installed ceramic tile in our kitchen and laundry room.I hated how the dust mop or a regular broom just pushed the dirt into the grout lines.I bought the Swiffer Vac due do a recommendation from a friend.Boy!I am glad I did!It is awesome for quick pickups. It is great for dog hair and dirt.I just wish the vacuum surface was a little bit wider and the dust cup would hold a little more dirt. The filter clogs easily but then I am cleaning up after two shedding dogs.I love this product.Just be sure and empty the dust cup regularly and keep it charged!

WORX TriVac WG500 12 amp All-in-One Electric Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum Review

WORX TriVac WG500 12 amp All-in-One Electric Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this product is a cool idea...a leaf blower that turns vacuum w/the flip of a switch.Problem is, it doesn't do it nearly as well as it could or should.First, the impeller is plastic. One errant rock or hard piece of bark sucked up in the vacuum, and expect your blades to chip.Mine chipped on the firstuse.Next, the bag is problematic. It's easy to click into place, but very difficult to dislodge.Mine just would not budge at all.No amount of force, or coaxing or balance could get the bag off.I have read other people have had the same problem. Finally, the design. The end of the unit is angled up.Which seems like a good idea until you use it.Because the motor is the heaviest feature, the unit naturally wants to tip backward in your hand--the opposite direction of the angle on the nozzle. It just means your hand/forearm gets tired a lot quicker.the power of the blower/vac is pretty decent. But that's about all I can say for this gadget. For the money, I expected better.A lot better.I sent this back, and bought a Toro Ultra for $20 less.It doesn't have that "one touch" toggling between blower and vac, but it does have a metal impeller, is simple to assemble and use, weighs less, mulches great, has variable speed and doesn't have nearly the "hang ups" that this unit has.

Product Description:
The WORX TriVac All-in-One Compact Blower/Mulcher/Vac has the versatility to change jobs with just the flip of a switch. Because there are no tubes to switch between tasks, you can blow away debris at 210 mph, then easily change to vacuuming dry leaves at up to 14 gallons per minute in seconds. The angled nose and comfortable handle make operation of the TriVac easy enough for any user. And with its powerful 12 amp motor, this tool makes an efficient, environmentally friendly alternative to gasoline-powered tools.

The TriVac's unique compact, lightweight design makes it more versatile and easier to handle than other blowers. View larger.

Change from blow to vac with a flip of the switch. View larger.

The angled nose makes it easy to clear low areas and to reach under decks and furniture. View larger.Comfortable Design Makes For Light Work
ErgoSum Design Technology allows you to hold the TriVac with a natural, comfortable grip, and its light weight of just 8.4 pounds and wrap-around soft grip mean you can operate it with one arm. The compact size also makes it easy to store, and there are no extra tubes to lug around when taking care of your grounds.
Environmentally Friendly, Efficient Electric Motor
Because it runs on a 12 Amp electric motor, the TriVac makes a much more environmentally friendly choice than its gasoline-powered counterparts. The electric motor runs at about 70 decibels, significantly reducing noise pollution, and it has none of the emissions associated with gas-powered engines. The electric power still packs a punch: when used as a blower, the TriVac's air speed of 210 mph is strong enough to clear away wet leaves and other heavy debris. The adjustable air regulator allows you to reduce air flow when working around delicate plants and preventing dust ups. Flip the switch to vacuum mode, and turn mounds of dry leaves into mulch in minutes, perfect for compost piles or ground cover. The TriVac's 10 to 1 mulch ratio makes easy work of large jobs.
Innovative, Durable Design
The TriVac's innovative angled tube makes it easy to clear debris under cars, furniture, and equipment in your yard or garage. The collector bag empties quickly thanks to a quick-connect coupler, and it's constructed of breathable nylon fabric to keep the air flowing freely. Cleaning the TriVac is simple; just push a button to open the impeller housing to free any clogs. Its sturdy ABS plastic construction means you can put the TriVac through the rigors of everyday use for many seasons to come.
The WORX TriVac All-in-One Compact Blower/Mulcher/Vac is covered by a full two-year warranty.

BISSELL Perfect Sweep Turbo Cordless Rechargeable Sweeper Review

BISSELL Perfect Sweep Turbo Cordless Rechargeable Sweeper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Picked this up at Kohls locally, who also had the Shark.Wasn't impressed with how to empty the Shark, and it wasn't on sale. So, bought this figuring on an easy return.

First day thoughts:Charging for 16 hours right out of the box is a bit annoying, but no more so than any other recent rechargeable.Got a chance to use it today - I bought it, essentially, because we live in the pacific northwest and have hardwood.sweeping is a pain, and vacuuming happens only weekly, so a quick picker-upper of pine needles is WONDERFUL.We used to have a roomba running, but with a toddler in the house, that's pretty scary - who knows what it will jam on. Maybe we'll use the roomba once he's a few years older.

Tried this first on the hardwood. It did ok under the cabinet feet, swept up pine needles pretty respectably without tossing them.Did not do very well on the "foot scrubber" entry-way doormats - I think those pine needles are pretty embedded.Overall, hardwood was ok. Margins of rugs was adequate but not great.Actually, that was my first out-loud comment to the family - "hey, this is pretty adequate". Won't win any awards on hard surface floors -- honestly i want a hugely powerful vacuum without a brush. So far no product that does that. But, didn't fail either. Grabbed the dog food and pine needles, although it occasionally took more than one pass to get it.

Then, went to the high-traffic pine needle areas - which is pretty much just off every hardwood area.Did surprisingly well, didn't leave pine needles behind at all.It was obviously not a vacuum, just a surface sweeper, but it's also not 40 pounds with a long, annoying cord and fourteen attachments. Overall, surprisingly good. Carpet does not look freshly vacuumed, but sure looks tidy. Did manage to pick up a few stickers and a half a crayon, some dog fur and some random scraps of paper.Clearly, a sweeper though.

When using this in the hardwood front hallway, i noticed that the carpeted stairs had pine needles all over them.I unclipped the handle and ran the sweeper over the first 4-5 stairs before my toddler "helped".

NOW i am impressed. It's the right width (maybe just half an inch too wide) but does a very good job sweeping carpeted steps. no cords, no long handles, just unclip the long handle and run it with your hand.

Overall, day 1 is very good. But, I'll revisit this review in two weeks and update. I don't think it's anywhere near threatening for my Dyson Animal, but at minimum it seems that it might keep things tidier without a cord and with less fuss. And with a toddler, i absolutely need less fuss.

Negative: If you have pets (i have a dog and three cats), the waste receptacle can be hard to empty. The first time i tried it, i shook out half the dust container on the floor because the dog fur trapped everything, and then centripetal force kicked in at absolutely the wrong moment. The exit gap is pretty small, and does not accomodate pet fur well. I learned to shake a bit slower and reach in to grab big furballs. and then wash my hands. Pretty sure none of the designers owned a pet... EVER. But, on the same note, they must have pine needles, because that worked very well :)

Annoyance: when it's plugged in, it's showing a red LED. no, it never changes. Red means plugged in.No charge indicator. Very irritating, cheaply solved, and yet not quite there. Gives me a bit of pause - they've clearly outsourced design, are saving the one-one-hundredth-of-a-penny and given up on quality, so I'll just have to see what Dyson comes out with next...

Shark VX3 Cordless Floor-and-Carpet Cleaner, V1950 Review

Shark VX3 Cordless Floor-and-Carpet Cleaner, V1950
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Do NOT buy this if you think it will replace your vacuum.I have a 2 year old and a VERY good vacuum on hand that I use once a week (though I probably should vacuum twice a week). For all the messes that occur in between (probably 2-3x a day), I use the Shark to make my life easier.

I'm currently a stay at home mom with a toddler and she leaves crumbs EVERYWHERE.We live in a small apartment, so the dining room is a spit's throw from the living room and it's almost unavoidable to have toddlers (my kid, my kid's friends, my friends' kids...) carrying their muffins, snacks, crackers, pretzels around and about the living area.I got the Shark more because my daughter was terrified of loud sounds and my regular vacuum cleaner, but have found that the nice bonus is that it's so much easier to lug this one out 2-3 times a day to pick up crumbs right after snack time (and hence avoid having it ground into the rugs) than to pull out my heavy Bissell.

Pros:It's lightweight, very quiet, convenient, and effective for picking up visible crumbs if used correctly.
Cons:It doesn't do heavy-duty or deep cleaning; the price-tag can be steep; Shark sweepers are known to break down after a few months to a year.

My mom has an older version of the Shark sweeper, which is much more quiet than this one. She's a waitress and uses it to tidy up the floor under the tables in between customers.Obviously, she's subjecting it to pretty heavy use, and she's now on her third one.Her recommendations on making it last a long as possible:clean the sweeper thoroughly after a few uses (that includes pulling out accumulated hair in the brushes and washing the collection bin) and charge the battery according to directions (do not allow to sit for longer than 19 hours at a time charging, you will reduce battery life).

The Shark Vx3 is a little louder than hers. But I like the fact that it has two speed settings (supposedly for floor and carpet). The handle bends so that you can push it under furniture, which is a little helpful, but kinda awkward and (knowing that the Shark sweeper handles are notorious for breaking off) I prefer to not use it at all.The Shark Vx3 also has a little rotator brush on the side, which is supposed to pick up crumbs as you push it against the side of a wall, but I wish that they had thought to put a rotator brush on both sides. They claim also that you can push a button and dump out the collection cup without ever having to touch the dirt. This is true in theory, but in practice, the lid often catches or there is dirt stuck in the bin that you have to shake it out--so it's almost unavoidable to touch the bin or dirt.No big deal--just wash your hands afterwards.

The bottom line:don't expect to replace your vacuum. And here's the KEY to use the sweeper most effectively -- push it SLOWLY and repeatedly over the pile of crumbs that you intend to pick up.I found that if you tried to push the sweeper back and forth quickly like a regular vacuum, it didn't pick up anything, just pushed the dirt around.

If you found this review helpful, please let me know!

Swiffer Sweeper & Duster 3-in-1 Starter Kit Box Review

Swiffer Sweeper & Duster 3-in-1 Starter Kit Box
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this little kit is excellent. it has everything to start you out using Swiffer- it also included a duster which as i ran it all over my place i noticed that it took care of dust without aggravating my allergies- i no longer have and excuse about dusting so i will be ordering some of those in the future-
i really like this whole concept and was pleased when it worked to my satisfaction. i actually only have a 2 smaller rooms of tile in my apartmentthe kitchen/laundry area and the bathroom ugh- so i always told myself its not worth getting anything for my vacuum was enough because i have large rugs on the floors. but i'd drag the vacuum out and the next afternoon the kitchen it needed it again!my dryers lint trap sheds lint no matter how careful i am about it is one problem i guess the other is when i cook i ALWAYS drop things? plus i have dark towels in the bathroom- dark lint everywhere
ANYWAY with the swiffer i can pull up therug shake it quickly run the swiffer around and VIOLA! done. floor looks great and its very easy to maintain daily- this morning i cleaned the kitchen floor while i made breakfast and still had time left over. plus i'm not walking into a dusty messy floor area with my inner Grandmother saying i tought you to keep your household better than that!
this particular swiffer holds onto its cloth very well and its easy to push around- and i LOVED the wet cloths especially the little scrubber attached. i mopped the kitchen and bathroom in no time flat and it dries fast and it does a really nice job on both counts. its a break especially when before it was mopping on my hands and knees ugh.so VERY pleased.

Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum Review

Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Hoover LiNX Cordless Stick Vac (Model BH50010) List $179.99 (3/17/09)

Pros:
Cleans well - on/off brushroll for bare floors or area rugs/carpeting, excellent on pet hair
Control on handle - easy to use
Charge indicator accurate & useful
Dust cup very easy to empty & clean (including baffle tube when necessary)
Filter easy to clean
Stands up to store

Cons:
Awkward on stairs - no stair-handle, must support from below. I'm getting used to this, and it's easier if I use my stronger hand for the machine and weaker hand for the handle.

THE BOTTOM LINE:
Hoover Platinum CSV is absolutely shines in two areas: ease of use (switching from brushroll on to brushroll off, going between surface heights & types), and cleaning ability, especially the tricky maneuver of getting pet hair off area rugs.

WORD TO THE WISE:
I got this information from Hoover after my battery failed: don't store the battery in the charger. (I stored it in the charger and only took it out of the charger when I used it.)There is nothing in the instructions about this, but storing it in the charger can cause it to fail. It's OK to leave it several hours or overnight, but then take it out of the charger and put it in the vacuum. The battery will continue to hold the full charge no matter how long it is stored in the vacuum. (Thanks to the 2 year warranty on the battery, they are sending me a new one at no charge.)

Read on if you are interested in more detailed comments:

Price:
I am sure that with time the price will come down or discounts will be available from the $179 list.I know that the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright (another model in this line) which originally listed for $399 is readily available online for $300 now.(Nov 12, 2009 edit: Price has finally dropped into the $150 range!)

Battery Life:
The battery life is quite good, and I like the "fade-free" aspect of the product - it works at full power for the whole time.It does a much better job so much quicker than my old vac and I am more than satisfied, since I can get everything I want done in a single charge.

Bagless feature:
I think I finally understand why bagless vacuums are so popular, even though they are more work: there is something so satisfying about SEEING how much dirt and pet hair you have removed from your flooring. But however satisfying it is to see what you have removed, it creates an extra step that you need to perform nearly every time you use a bagless vac - ANY bagless vac - if you want it to maintain its cleaning power. With my previous stick vac, the dust cup emptied fine, but I had to pull the dust off the filter with my fingers to ready it for the next use, and occasionally use another vacuum to clean the filter because it was not washable. The Hoover Platinum CSV, however, is exceptionally easy to empty and clean. The dust cup empties from the bottom, the baffle tube is easy to remove from the dust cup assembly if necessary (which it will be, if you have multiple long-haired daughters), and the filter can be bushed off with a dry toothbrush and washed when necessary. Long hair does tend to wind around the baffle tube (part of the bagless system).Fortunately, that is easy to remove when emptying the dust cup.

Carpet Cleaning:
I have used (and liked, and still believe it is a good stick vac, although with limitations) the Eureka The Boss Lite Cordless (96 b)Eureka 96 B Quick Up Upright Cordless Stick Vacuum cordless (rated 4 ? stars on Amazon) for years on my hardwood floors and area rugs for quick cleanups, so I have a basis for comparison.

My old Boss Lite was great on bare floors, but only better-than-nothing on rugs. (I used to kneel down and wipe the surface with a well-wrung out sponge to get the hair off my area rugs because the brush-roll on the Eureka just wasn't up to it.)By comparison, the Hoover Platinum Cordless Stick Vac is amazingly good at getting surface pet hair, dirt, and sock lint off rugs.It won't deep clean, but it will help to make the carpet surface LOOK clean, which is all I want for a quick clean up.

Ease of use:
Easily goes from one surface to another seamlessly, except for certain very lightweight mats.Rubber backed bathmats and doormats require me to lift the vacuum up off the bare floor and onto the rug, but it does a good job on those at cleaning them rather than sucking them up. It cannot be used on the very lightest towel-weight throw rugs with no backing, even without the brushroll - it sucks them up. With ordinary area rugs, however, the Hoover Platinum CSV goes up and over the edge with amazing ease.

Edge cleaning:
This vacuum has excellent edge cleaning.I don't ever have to stoop down to get that random bit of whatever from near the baseboard. This is a MAJOR plus when compared to my old stick vac.

Clearance:
The Hoover Platinum CSV will go under about the first 9 inches of furniture with only about 2 ? inches of clearance,- you can't go further than that, because the bagless dust cup gets in the way.But if you have more clearance - about 8 inches (what my kitchen chairs have under the crossbars between the legs)- then you can get completely under.

Was there anything I liked BETTER about the my old stick vac?
Yes, I liked the way it hung on the wall to charge. The Hoover has a charging base which charges the battery, and the vac, while it stands on its own (a plus), does require floor space.

Shark 2-in-1 Cordless Stick Vac and Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, SV800\VX63 Review

Shark 2-in-1 Cordless Stick Vac and Handheld Vacuum Cleaner, SV800\VX63

This cordless vac is wonderful & so easy to use.Incredible suction. I use it to vacuum kitchen--it gets under the cabinets and picks up everything--I have a lot of dog hair. Also use it on my door mats and around them on the patio. Just don't try to pick up anything big.I also use it on my carpet for little jobs.I like not having to get out my Dyson, plug it in, etc.just for small jobs.It is very easy to empty filter and pop back in. I like that it is 2 in 1 and easy to take apart and use as a hand vac with the little attachment.

I have thrown away a lot of money on similar products (the worst was the Swivel Sweeper).

Product Description:
A smart addition to any busy household, this cordless stick vac features a power nozzle that lifts and traps dust, dirt, debris, and pet hair from low-pile carpets and bare-floor surfaces such as tile, linoleum, or hardwood. Its motorized brush roll can be set to low or high speed for customizing the suction power depending on the floor type. The cleaner also provides a telescopic handle that adjusts to different user heights for comfort, swivel steering for effortless maneuverability around furniture, ultra-lightweight construction, and a removable battery that can be recharged anywhere. It can also be used to prep floors before washing them with the Shark steam mop (sold separately). The two-in-one stick vac not only cleans floors throughout the house, but it also converts to a handheld vacuum cleaner for quick, everyday pickups of dirt and dry spills on furniture, countertops, kitchen floors, and other high-traffic places in the home. Even more, a crevice tool on the handheld unit makes it possible to access tight spots and corners like along window sills or between couch cushions. A battery charger and three foam filters come included. The two-in-one vacuum cleaner measures approximately 10-2/5 by 5-2/7 by 49-1/5 inches.

Original Swivel Sweeper 7.2 Volt Replacement Battery Review

Original Swivel Sweeper 7.2 Volt Replacement Battery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The replacement battery makes the Swivel Sweeper more powerful than we ever remember it being originally. The key is to charge the new battery fully for no more than eight hours and then to NOT recharge it again until after it completely runs out of power. And then do not leave the recharger plugged in for more than eight hours. So we have had the new battery for over a month and only recharged it two or three times.
Before, we made the mistake of leaving the old battery plugged into the charger all the time.

Swiffer Sweeper Dry Cloth Refill Unscented 48 Count Box Review

Swiffer Sweeper Dry Cloth Refill Unscented 48 Count Box

These work wonders on laminate floors.
I have 2 cats and a dog that leave fur EVERYWHERE, plus my house gets kind of dusty.
I swiffer my living room daily, and you can see where I dont get-- Like if I miss a spot- you can tell. It really attracts the dust and fur and leaves the floor looking nice and clean. I wish the cloths would pick up the cat litter peebles that my cats track around the house- so that is my only complaint and why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
I also really like the wet cloths, but the dry ones are really a life saver for a quick clean.

Cordless Swivel Sweeper - Original As Seen on TV by Swivel Sweeper

Updated: January 7, 2006

I have now owned the product for six months.I have nothing to change in my review.I am surprised that people are having so many problems with this product. My unit still works fine; the battery holds a charge; the pole has not broken; the handle has not broken.Maybe my unit is not typical. However, you do need to have realistic expectations for this product. The Swivel Sweeper is not a new revolutionary cleaning apparatus worthy of a patent (as the info commercial implies). It is just an electric sweeper for quick clean ups.If you want the thorough results that a vacuum provides--use a vacuum.

Original Review
I have owned my Swivel Sweeper for two weeks. If you are looking for something better than your dust pan, this is the product for you.If you are looking for something to replace your vacuum cleaner, you are going to be disappointed. The pros: light weight, high quality, cordless, rechargeable, easy to use, maneuverable. The cons: overpriced, can't ever replace a vacuum, time-consuming periodic cleaning. The product is just what I was looking for: a cordless, rechargeable, electric dust pan that I could keep in the kitchen next to the refrigerator and pull out twice a week and sweep the kitchen floor.I have a light colored tile floor and it shows every little particle of dirt.In addition, my cat spreads Friskies on the floor and the sweeper picks up those nicely. The Swivel Sweep is a fairly high quality product. All the parts look well designed, fairly durable (they are just plastic), and fit together well.

The Swivel Sweep is oversold on the info commercial (as to be expected). It will never take the place of a vacuum cleaner. It is not a vacuum cleaner. It creates no suction. It is simply a sweeper.I would summarize it as an electric dust pan.The product has four rotating brushes that sweep items into a small centralized dust pan with openings on all four sides. The Swivel Sweeper is much quieter than a traditional vacuum cleaner; however, one would not use it in a room with a sleeping baby as advertised--it is not that quiet. It makes a tone with medium-high pitched whine. The picture on the box shows the product being used to sweep dirt from a carpet after a house plant has been toppled--forget it!That is not a good use of this product.Use a real vacuum cleaner for that job. This product is really only effective on hard surfaces.A dust pan is not what I would use on a carpet.Yes, you could pick up small items sitting on the surface of a carpet like paper clips, but realistically, to clean a carpet adequately, one should use a vacuum cleaner with strong suction and a powerful beater brush to separate the carpet strands. The Swivel Sweeper has neither of these. The Swivel Sweep is not comparable to a real vacuum cleaner. The Swivel Sweeper has problems picking up some very small items even on hard surfaces.Sometimes an item will shoot across the floor instead of going into the dust pan.I find myself going over the same area multiple times to pick up some items (but no big deal).

Because the product is fairly new, it is a bit overpriced.I think $29 would be more appropriate.I would expect to see it at Target in a year or two for $19.95.Emptying the dust pan is easy.Cleaning the sweeper is not.The Swivel Sweeper comes with a "cleaning tool" which is nothing more than a thread cutter/seam ripper (if you know what that is).Hair (human hair) gets wound around all four brushes and needs to be periodically cut and vacuumed out.The manual says "on occasion" this cleaning need to be done. The manual indicates the battery will last 45 minutes on one charge. That seems reasonable since I am still on the original charge and have used the sweeper about 10 times.

Overall, I am pleased with the product.

At first I was suspicious about the claims of this product but after using it on wood floors I was convinced that it is a great way to keep a floor clean.
No chemicals are needed.
We have a golden retriever that sheds at least a cup of hair a day.The Swiffer is excellent for getting up this hair as well as the dirt that the kids track in.

Bissell FeatherWeight Vacuum, Bagless, 3106B Review

Bissell FeatherWeight Vacuum, Bagless, 3106B
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have used this every day for years (I can't remember how many--but at least four years).I recently bought a new one only because I was afraid of scratching my floors due to the rollers not turning as well as they had before.I moved the old one down to my basement work area, and use the new one in the main living areas.

I have three dogs (previously four) and two house rabbits, all of whom go through times of heavy shedding.During those times I sometimes vacuum certain areas twice a day. There has never been any maintenance problem with this vacuum cleaner. The suction is strong enough for me to do my rag rugs and area rugs, and the rollers don't scratch my wood floors. It's easy on my back, conveniently converts to a hand vac, and is easy to take out and use at a moment's notice (no tedious unwinding of long cord).

One reviewer did write that this vacuum is hard to clean.I clean mine by dumping the bulk of the debris into the trash, then vacuuming the filter periodically with my Kenmore heavy-duty vacuum cleaner. The chamber holds a lot of dust, so even when my pets are heavily shedding, I don't empty it more than every 2 - 3 days.

If I only could have one vacuum cleaner, this would be it.
